KLM or KQ managed to break the shell of my old polyethylene Samsonite, which has survived many many trips around Africa. It must have taken quite an effort to break thick polyethylene.

I have to say - I've never had a damaged case yet which is surprising given I do something like 100 sectors a year! I have lost a couple through wear and tear though - mainly the wheels, although the latest Samsonite one's I've bought, they replace the wheels free of charge as many times as you like!
