Shortly I will be be flying Air New Zealand business class from LHR T2. I’m assuming that the flight will depart from the B satellite terminal. Can anyone advise which is the best lounge to use? Air Canada, Singapore or United? To date the only lounge at T2 which I’ve used has been the Lufthansa lounge. I have Star Alliance Gold status. Any opinions and advice will be much appreciated.

Personally I’d use the United Lounge. Good choice of food and nice choice of drinks. Champagne not bad and the staff are very sociable.

If using the A gates, whilst it’s a long walk A-B on the moving walkways it’s a VERY long walk B-A.

The Singapore Airlines lounge has yet to open afaik.

Air NZ directs Business Premier customers to the United lounge, which I gather is the better one compared to Air Canada (although NZ directs its own Koru Club paid lounge members to the Air Canada lounge, but generally the better lounge is the one available to Business Premier customers.

The Air Canada and United lounges are not far apart, both at the B gates, so you can visit both if you wish. The Lufthansa lounge is at the A gates, so if you wish to try that (and you may) it should be the first one you visit, because you will have a long trek back as NZ does depart from the B gates.

@libertyscott – many thanks indeed. I was wondering which lounge Air NZ would use.

I might well drop in at the LH lounge first. I’ve only visited early morning and was impressed by their breakfast offer. I was assured by staff on duty that the lunch time offering was worth experiencing.

I participated in the user trials of T2 last May and was amazed by the long transfer from A to B gates. It would have benefited from a monorail.

    All,
I’m flying Thai in F later this year (on their A380) and just wondered what the best/closest lounge would be, or whether to lounge-hop from Lufthansa to United, on the way to the aircraft. Any advice please?

Both the LH and United lounges are good. If flying in the morning, both have the nasty habit of putting milk in their scrambled egg.

That (personal) prejudice apart, I would go to the United lounge if leaving from the B gates. The food is good, the drinks excellent, and the bartender will make a perfect martini exactly to your needs.
