I have just returned from a meeting in Rhodes. A fair number of us were on a delayed Aegean connection to Athens, with onward flights to places such as Toronto, DC, New York,Hong Kong (via Moscow), Johannesburg, London and Amsterdam. Onward flights were on Star, Skyteam and oneworld. Many of our group had separate tickets on Aegean and for their onward flights. In Rhodes, the airline through-checked baggage across two tickets for a number of people with tight connections. On arrival in Athens, the aircraft was met at our remote parking stand by an Aegean representative with boarding passes for non-Star airlines (Aeroflot, Delta, BA) as well as within Star (Air Canada) and more general transfer information for others with more time.

In my view, this was service way beyond the call of duty and would be very unlikely on most airlines anywhere in the world. Talk about service recovery by Aegean!! In addition, they had already compensated all passengers with a complementary domestic flight voucher on Aegean – the flight was just 80 minutes late, BTW.
