WT+ Upgraded Service Question

Posts

BGIWorldTraveller - 06/02/2012 13:15 GMT

Hello there, can anyone tell me if the upgraded WT+ meal service etc is across the board at LGW/LHR or only LHR? That's because a relative recently flew BA and had no upgraded service, regular WT meals etc... so I'd like to have your say...

BGIWorldTraveller - 08/02/2012 13:40 GMT

Anyone?

BeckyBoop - 08/02/2012 13:43 GMT

No idea, but think positive and i am sure you will get the club world meal :) xx

I've been getting conflicting reports on the LGW-BGI-LGW route so it has me a bit curious... there has definitely been an increase in WT+ fares but not everyone seems to be getting a Club World meal...

Just checked BA's website and they say ;

"You can look forward to a three-course meal for breakfast, lunch or dinner, depending on your flight time. On flights into and out of London Heathrow, your choice of entrée comes from the business class Club World menu, while all our entrée options are designed by leading chefs".

Otherwise try giving them a call - Reservations and general enquiries 0844 493 0787(from the UK)

That's really interesting and one to note for the future.

Only LHR WT+ flights appear to have the enhanced meal, LGW apparently not.

I didn't realise that, thanks BGI traveller and Becky, for sharing.

This seems a little silly on BA's part... why only have upgraded meal service on LHR flights? Are they not several long-haul routes at LGW such as LGW-BGI, LGW-BDA? LGW-ANU?

The enhanced meal service on WT+ is much appreciated and long overdue.

It brings WT+ more in line with other Prem Y products, most notably that of QF with whom BA have a Joint Service Agreement (JSA) from LHR to AUS.

It also makes the product seem like better value. I have always cringed when the Y class meal has been served in WT+.

Good move BA!

I wonder if any Club passengers now hate the fact that they now downgraded to a WT+ meal instead of a club world meal? xx

I travel regularly on WT+ to Dubai so have seen the upgraded service, agree it seems a shame its not accross the board from LGW and slightly odd in this world of brand consistency being critical!

A couple of observations though :

1) it seems to be only 1 of the courses which is from Club (the beef dish on the 2140 to Dubai!), the other 2 courses seem the same as economy.

2) as Club is quite rightly served first, I have seen more people in WT+ not get their first choice of dish. Historically of course, you were getting the economy meal first, you are now getting the club meal last, if you follow me.

Also, and to Becky's point, interesting to see that VS have taken the alternative strategy of upgrading all economy food, including W class, rather than giving premium economy the club menu. This not hacking off their upper passengers.

Vive la difference!

Chris BA from what i know are suppose to be redoing all the food for all classes with the Height Cusine programme that Heston Bloomental done. You can see vids on youtube. I seems daft that LGW doesnt get the same club world meal, I cant see why LGW departures wouldnt want it. Virign are lucky because they only have three classes of cabin Upper class soon to be "new upper class" (cant wait) is both business and first, premium ecoonomy and Economy. xx
