This train has been cancelled because of an unusually large passenger flow

My better half is travelling back to Scotland from Newcastle. Her train (with her First Reservation) is shown cancelled on National Rail Enquiries with the following posting: This train has been cancelled because of an unusually large passenger flow.......

This must be one of the more bizarre justifications that our railways have managed to dream up......

To complicate matters, this train, although still officially cancelled is also showing on the National Rail Enquiries system as running close to time as it is at Newcastle station. Cancelled trains continuing to run suggests a Thomas-the-Tank-Engine level of train intelligence and independence. More April Fools than Christmas.......

Hope Mrs. TominScotland gets there ok, Tom,

It's like something on an old Ealing comedy!!

I thought this thread title was an unpleasant scaremongering advert for feminine products.
