I wanted to seek some clarification. I recently travelled on UA, and noticed that my mileage had not been credited to my account. I contacted TG Ticketing office, and was advised that W class on UA was not eligible for mileage credit. I find this a bit strange, as when I purchased the ticket the agent told me that this fare class was eligible for mileage credit, and also confirmed this on the UA website.
TG advised that this was not correct, as it would be for TG to decide as to which fare class would be eligible for mileage credits.
I am confused now, I thought that there was a common agreement amongst all Star Alliance carriers as to which fare classes will be eligible for mileage credit. Can someone help clarify this?
Thanks

Apparently there is no common agreement with Star Alliance. I tend to credit my miles with bmi. However on a recent trip with Croatia Airlines I noted the booking class would not accrue miles with bmi diamond club, but would be eligible with Lufthansa's miles and more.
I suppose the lesson is double check with your Star Alliance FF programme for eligibility.

W class on UA does not give you miles in the TG ROP frequent flier program. See earning miles on the TG website.

Yea, it can be credited on UA but not on TG. For TG take note of the following letters V U and W.
I sympathise with you here, earning on UA or Continental seems impossible if you expect them to be credited to your
Thai's ROP. Basically accept the following fact, American carriers give you nothing for you money, they take much from you and return nothing! I travelled for 7 weeks recently in the States and eventually wondered why Continental and UA can even be part of the programme as their product and service standards fall far below the carriers in the rest of the world! As for expecting your travel agent to know better, I have to say you may be in cloud cuckoo land, they have too many things to worry about already without burdening with your earnings suitability.
