    Hello everyone!

This is my first posting on your informative forum and remember english is not my first language!

I am always reading reports on all your travels in business and first, so I thought I may share a little report on my flight in Swiss Economy

I flew SR with our offspring JNB-ZRH-LUG in Y after 4 years of flying QR business (very satisfied). The reasons I choose to fly Y were:

40% the ridiculous price QR was asking for the usual flight family configuration (Mrs LP Business class, and the two cost centers in Economy)
40% bad reports on QR new lounge
20% very cheap Y tickets for all of us flying into LUG.

For the flight JNB-ZRH nothing too bad or good to report, tragedy only struck when I could not be given a gin and tonic (they run out of gin, for heaven’s sake, how on earth can an airline run out of gin, the life and blood of the passengers like me!) nor some modest cheeses which were advertised for business and even economy class passengers, I thought it may be too nice to miss (I never eat on the plane in Y class but trust the swiss prepacked cheeses)!

The excellent news were that on the return flight ZRH-JNB a delightful steward granted me a few mini bottles of gin (I mentioned that there was no gin on the way up) and some prepacked but rather delicious pieces of swiss cheese.

I guess that travelling in economy is a state of mind, a meditation exercise, which can be endured even for such a long flight, bearing in mind the very reasonable tarif we were paying. It also puts in perspective how lucky I am when I can fly business or first.

In this short travel report I need to add that in ZRH airport we took a table at the new Spruengli cafe and all food and drinks served were ultra-delicious. And they did not mind my oldest son to sprawl out very widely in a very un-swiss like (very bush-like manner) on a sofa in all confort. And on the way back to JNB we all had a most delicious hamburger at Burger King and a salad at the new salad bar of Moevenpick near to where one accesses the first class lounge. So basically to say that we did not miss the lounges at ZRH airport too much.

Hope this little report is useful for anyone flying through Zurich airport! And for those who love chocolate, do not miss the truffle cake from Spruengli, pricey but the best in the whole wide world!

Welcome to he forum Mrs LP! Thank you for an excellent post / review. Shame about the Gin / Cheese situation on the first flight but looks like they made up for it in part on the way back!

Welcome to the madhouse Mrs LP, as someone who fly’s “Y” for leisure I really enjoyed the review.
Loved your G & T tale of woe, reminded me of the time AF ran out of vino, on the way back from HKG…Sacre bleu…

Dear Canucklad, wow AF running out of red wine on a flight? That is seriously shocking!!
Dear MartynSinclair … in lugano I have a good collection of whiskeys, here only a few half decent bottles who tend to have a very short shelf life but you are welcome to taste any at one of our houses!!
Dear Tim, MrMichael, PatJordan and Swissdiver, thanks for the compliments and I am happy to be reading you all on board of this forum .. All madhouses fascinate me !!
PS as a newcomer I could only post another comment after 24 hours, so apologies for the delay.

Do you know what you are letting yourself in for Mrs LP?

Very pleased to read your review, and hope to hear more from you.
