presumably it would need Beirut airports authority to have paid them a stack of cash and give them free fees for ever more in return for flooding one of the most beautiful cities in the world with stag and hen dos from Essex.

I hope the Lebanese have more class and sense than to let these cowboys in.

Or perhaps they will fly into Beirut and call it a flight to Cyprus and provide pedalos?

Well, easyJet fly to Amman, so it’s possible. However, I’m not sure that there is a bilateral air services agreement between Ireland and Lebanon. Unless an ‘open skies’ agreement has been signed to allow an Irish airline to link any point in the EU with Lebanon, then it’s a non-starter. Charles Q does not mention where any flights to Beirut might originate; maybe Milan-Bergamo or Frankfurt-Hahn?

MEA’s rights at BEY are up for review in 2013, especially on some EU sectors including LHR (currently competes with BMI/BA – used to be BMed). It’s an interesting route for Easyjet to consider as with their Amman route they send and bring the crew back in the same day. The Ministry of Aviation might open it up to include Easy, but I can’t see them considering Ryanair – the airport needs to generate revenue, not give it away!!!
