    Hello Everyone

Can I ask for advice/opinion please?

I am on a 0930 from Dublin to Charlotte. Will it be ok to get a 0630 from Leeds to Dublin and connect to this flight or should I go the night before? I’m wanting to clear immigration in Dublin so need to know if I will have enough time?

    Thanks as ever.

    Daniel

    Daniel.
if it was me, I would definitely go the night before. Peace of mind and all that.

Any delays into DUB, you are screwed.

The Hilton at Malahide is close and reasonable price.

Agreed, you’re not on a through ticket and who knows what time Mr O’Leary’s mob will get you into Dublin!

Is this routing from Leeds much cheaper than using US Airways from Manchester via Philadelphia? Or is Manchester too much of a trek?

If would stay the night before every flight to/ from dublin I have had this year has had delays (8 so far) 🙁 My vote for staying would be for the Crowne plaza; there is a bus and the singaporean restaurant was pretty good.

I stayed the night before in Dublin for an 11.15 departure to Philly a month back. I do hate early morning starts.. 🙂

Martyn. Can I ask why you choose to go from DUB to PHL unless it’s the rather obvious meeting in Dublin prior.
Is there another reason that makes a departure from Eire attractive?
    Is the flight with USAIR?

Definitely the night before Daniel. You will get some kip etc. The only hotel I know near the airport is Bewley’s which I recommend although I believe it has recently changed hands.

Daniel, the Crowne Plaza is the only hotel in the Dublin Airport area with a Club floor & lounge.

Not sure if that makes a difference; but having stayed there several times, I find it quite good.

    Hi Seasoned Traveller

I was routing through Philly to go down to Florida. Cost was less than €900 in business.

US Air (AA metal) beats BA product hands down and I got the long haul product all the, way down to Florida.

At age 53, price, avios, tier points and hard product, come before actual
    flight time.

Ive rushed for too many years…..

Sorry to digress everyone…..Martyn, you have reminded me of a previous thread and on a recent flight I saw two AA 330s at FRA.

I’m not familiar with flight connections at Dublin, but for peace of mind I’d also go the night before. Like Martyn I see no point in rushing or in early morning starts – unless in South Africa that is.

Thanks everyone. On the basis that nobody suggests going on the morning it looks like and overnighter.

C2Sugar, I’m going out of Dublin for the same reason as Martyn, it’s half the price. Out on US Air and back on AA. Will be interesting to compare their business class products.

My final destination is Dallas for a meeting. Any tips would be much appreciated.

    @DanielRowson

The best tip from my own experience is make sure you join the q’s for the USA pre clearance. My flight to Philly was delayed due to passengers in the immigration Q. There are several flights leaving at the same time, causing long Q’s.

As far as the business product is concerned, I was on AA metal, formerly an old US Air A-330. Far far better than the airline flight number I was flying….(BA ought to be ashamed at the cr*p they still call business class!)….

If you ticket is restricted go night before if you have flex ticket up to you.

You could also go a full day early and head into Dublin City center which is a cool city.
