MarkivJParticipantGood evening folks! I hope to book an Economy ticket on oneworld (aka, BA and AA) for a trip to the UK, France and India around mid Oct. This is departure from Seattle. My journey will be: Seattle to Nice (via LHR). I’ll then travel around France and take the Eurostar back to London. Continue from LHR to BLR, and return BLR to SEA around 1st week of Dec.
Right now, the fare I’m getting for this (combination of AA and BA) is 1470$. is that good enough? I read another post on BA having a sale in Sept – do you folks predict a cheaper rate or can I just go with this rate?
Thanks!

LuganoPirateParticipantThe fare looks pretty good Markiv, in fact I’d say its excellent and as they say, “a bird in the hand is worth two in the bush” so while it may be (though I doubt it) a bit cheaper next month, it could also be a lot more expensive.

PeterCoultasParticipantMarkivJ – I don’t know your “nationality/residence” situation but life can be a pain with visas – ticket must be booked (and/or hotels in some cases) before visas will be granted.
It can take longer than you might think so make sure your tickets/hotels are fully refundable/changeable.
(Visits to India for Brits used to be simple with visa issuance within a day but now it can be slow and more expensive due to Indian retaliation for madmay’s efforts protecting British borders!1 Aug 2014

MarkivJParticipantPeter, I’m an Indian citizen so I need a visa to practically every country in the world, despite having a US Green Card. It is hard to be honest coming up with a list of everything – hotel reservations, air tickets, etc. No surprise or impromptu trips when there’s a good deal coming up, etc. but it is what it is! The most annoying thing though is having to show up in person for the Schengen visa. I live in Seattle and am travelling to San Francisco *just* to apply in person!

PeterCoultasParticipantMarkiv – remember the UK is not in Schengen – the benefit of free movement in the EU has been removed and extra visas and delays are needed to get here.
On a recent China trip I found Accor hotels good for visas (cheap & cancellable once through immigration)Sympathies for your extra trip to SFO and all best wishes!

MarkivJParticipantPeter, I know! and I have a UK visa too. I am going to SFO for the France (Schengen) visa. I muchly prefer the UK visa system because even though Indian citizens need a visa, Indian citizens living in the US don’t have to appear in person at a UK consulate. They have to go to the nearest INS (US immigration office) whose services they leverage for fingerprints which get transmitted to the UK Govt and we post our application and passport! another thing I love about the UK is that when they give you a visa, it’s usually multiple entry with minimum of 6mo validity increasing to a year, 2 yrs, etc. on subsequent applications. Schengen on the other hand gives you single entry for the exact # of days of your trip!
As for hotel reservations, I do all my “bookings” (I say that in quotes as I cancel them) on venere.com as it’s easiest to cancel!
