If any of you are planning on flying QR in the future I would strongly advise you to reconsider, in light of their poor customer service. My family flew them LON-DOH-BOM in Business Class and weren’t that impressed (Perhaps we’ll try BA or Kingfisher next time) with the inflight service and, frankly, quite appalled at the ground service. Considering the inconvenience my wheelchair-reliant mother was caused the least QR could do was compensate us with free miles (as does EK when it gets things wrong).
Don’t fall for the advertising and hype.

    HI
I have read a few of your comments on this site and find your comments way out of order,
first of all you need to know that ground services is the responsibility of the airport and not the airline, you dont get 5 star rating with our hard work and dedication,i travel qatar airways a lot and find them consistant,
you are ill advised when you say the airline is hyped as laod factor suggest other wise, you had a bad flight, get over it,and its no reason to get race involved by saying lazy gulf people or qatari’s,,(sign of a desperate man)
treat people with respect and thats what you will get in return,no matter what race,
middle east is wonderfull place thats why so many people vist year in year out,one isolated instance which was out of athe airlines hand should not ruin the repuation of a fantastic airline

I agree with airpocket… I’ve flown through AUH,DXB,BAH,and DOH on numerous occasions and find the local staff unhelpful, aloof, lazy, and,at times, hostile.I don’t think people will be visiting for much longer, mate. Why come out to the Gulf for overpriced merchandise in the current economic climate? While you quote “load factors”, you should know that QR are offering the cheapest Business Class flights on some sectors…they obviously need the business!I doubt they would be that busy if it wasn’t for the discounts.Get real, the Gulf’s days are numbered.

i had to disagree with farhan121 on the ground handling facility. major airports used to have two or more ground handling services in which airlines choose and hire. different ground handling companies have different standards and the best airlines do invest on these and commmunicate well between their staff to provide the best service for their customers.

    hi
just to set the record straight,am not representing middle east nor do i originate from the region,i experience good and bad service, its who u get on the day, this factor can not be nor should it be linked to race and region,
but its imp to know that these instances are very isolated ,qatar airways represents true value and quality in air travel.
we all know doha ground serives arnt’t great, but thats not Qa fault,
in the times of doom and gloom its the middle east carriers that are putting the orders in for metal and upgrading,
its imp to know that all airlines have bad days.

    “…all airlines have bad days”

    A “5-star” airline shoudn´t have actually bad days…

Any airline, no matter how good its reputation is, can have bad days. Sometimes we all forget that airlines are run by humans and no human is perfect 100% of the time…..

I agree, that humans may have bad days, but this doesn´t automatically mean, that the airlines have to have bad days too – it is a matter of a company management and quality processing. Furthermore not all employees of the airline have a bad day at the same time.
These should be the difference between a “5-star” airline and the other airlines.

We have all at some point had bad experience with some airline. But Airpockets comments seems more derogatory towards arab people (oil money) than constructive. There is good and bad in every society and attitudes from culture to culture vary. But with that attitude you are bound to get bad service anywhere.

southeastern – can you not understand that an airline is run by humans too, so that allows them to have a bad day too, you seem to think that a 5 star airline is run by robots, no who or what you are, mistakes happen, it has taken 3 people and 5 replies to feed that info through to you, airpockets suggestions seem to be directed towards race, hence can not be constructive, lets all blv in the fact that no matter how many stars you have, you are not immune to bad service, no one wakes up in the morning with the intentions of giving bad attitude or service so lets get on with it.

    Gentlemen ,

I believe that this debate has grown disproportionately to the size of the original issue ……..First of all ,talking about races and cultures is totally unacceptable ….it is a shame to tackle this issue in such a way !….let s all remember that we get excellent service and lousy one in all corners of the globe ,with different airlines in various areas of the planet be it in Europe ,US ,Middle or Far East ….
Isolated incidents and I mean isolated should not affect or jeopardise our perceptions of what is a GOOD and what is a LOUSY service …
Every airline on earth has its strong as much as it has its weaker points ..the same applies to Qatar Airways like any other airline ,worth its salt !
A vast vast majority of air travellers have consistently voted for Qatar Airways over the last few years ,given their superior comfort on board ,their outstanding IFE ,their immaculate cabin crew ( female and male ) and their high quality food and beverages on board ..they have gone a step further with the Premium terminal in Doha ( a world s first ,except the Lufthansa s First only terminal in Frankfurt launched 5 years ago )………let s be frank to ourselves and not let a poor ground service isolated incident deter us from assessing the true exceptional value Qatar Airways is bringing to modern air travel if we compare its services to other airlines in the region or even in Europe as well as in the Far East ( I will never dare to mean Singapore Airlines ,of course !!…) ..

In my own humble opinion ,Qatar Airways ,Singapore Airlines and Swiss are the carriers to beat generally speaking ..this does not mean the others are lousy ..no ….there are lots and lots of good ,respectable and reliable airlines ,however the extra mile is something memorable ….

Heyyy ,Qatar Airways ….come on ….when are we seeing you operate from the new Doha International Airport to take the standards of air travel to a new dimension of luxury and reliability ?…can you please ensure your dear passengers are well taken care of on the ground as much as in the air ???…..please get it right in order not to jeopardise your well deserved 5 star reputation !!!

    Cheers !

I have never had so much difficulty contacting a Qatar Air representative as I tried to change a flight. Like many business travelers, my flights are subject to change but booking agents like Orbitz and airlines like Qatar Air charge penalties and make changing flights unbelievably difficult and terriby expensive.

My guidance is to avoid this airline; it has ZERO customer service support in the United States and has more hidden penalties than are worth tracking to prevent charges.
