Flying tonight on QF8, the longest current pax flight. DFW to SYD in J. Quick question, anybody aware if the DFW Qantas lounge is worth an extended visit. Trying to decide whether to eat in town then head to the airport or to head to the airport and eat in the lounge. The flight is not until 10pm Dallas time so I have about five hours to decide. Comments and advice most welcome. All I can establish is that it opens at 6, has a dining option, and is operated by a company called Toal. I and MrsM will gladly go straight to sleep once onboard provided we are fed and watered well beforehand.

Oh MrM, don’t forget your nicotine patch.

I remember seeing that flight on the departures screen in November and felt quite dizzy just thinking about it.

Does the flight depart from Terminal D? If so, you should have access to the Admirals lounge…..very spacious.

Have a safe and enjoyable flight both.

PS as a favour will you time the flight from take-off to touchdown. Seriously LOL

Got some nicotine lozenges Icenspice. I will definitely time it for you. It is booked at 16.50 and rather depends on the weather I believe. This flight has its own page on wikipedia.

Lucky I just checked my boarding pass, flight departs at ten past 8 and not 10 as per my itinerary. Admirals lounge seems to be one has to pay for anything substantial and the bar, Qantas lounge seems to be included. We have decided to eat in the lounge, if no good, try and stay awake and have a late supper on the flight.

Given the departure timing and duration. I’d try and stay awake as long as possible, you’ll be better adjusted to your arrival in Sydney and still be able to get a good 8 hours of sleep in plus a generous lie in.

    MrMichael,

The QF lounge at DFW is a contract lounge and is definitely not worth an extended visit.

I believe AA now has Flagship dining at the Admirals Club Terminal D, which is available to Emeralds. Not sure if its any better to the QF lounge.

Your right TheRealBabushka, lounge was rubbish, food was virtually inedible. Off to the gate now, flights on time, Sydney here I come. Quick meal on the plane Then a decent bit of shut eye, I am bushed!

It’s too late, but Lark or Savor would have been splendid choices, in town.

Icenspice, 16 hours and sixteen minutes, wheels off the ground to wheels back on the ground. Food police thankfully not interested in my bags of liquorice toffees that is also doing the RTW with me, albeit getting smaller as we go round! Off to our Hotel at Darling Harbour now and hoping for an early check in. G’day all.

Batterytraveller. Don’t know which Cabin your in, I was lucky enough to be in J. It is a long old haul so my only tip is to be pretty much on the tired side prior to boarding and try and sleep for a hefty chunk of it.
