Unexpectedly, I have to travel to Dublin next week for one night. I am flying BA from Luxembourg via LHR. Obviously I will be travelling with HBO. For some reason I made 3 separate bookings:

    LUX-LHR
    LHR-DUB-LHR
    LHR-LUX

Price for first segment – €18.79. I was astonished. I will also receive 1,000 avios, 10 TPs, have lounge access here in Luxembourg (very good) and order a G&T on board. Beat that Ryanair.

Yes, don’t know why, but there have been some absurdly good fares LUX-LON for a number months (I found them in this direction only) – also on Luxair and even Cityjet when it was flying the route. It’s a wonder that easyJet sticks with its Gatwick service.

    Amazing isn’t it.

    Breaks down into:
    Fare zero
    Luxembourg taxes €3.79
    BA fees and charges €15.00

Perhaps they make enough money on the outward flight to compensate.

Astonished with the €30+ fare Malta to Gatwick…. (no bags though)…

Simon, you are spot on with the fare breakdown.

travelsforfun, I have noticed that the evening flight to LHR is much more expensive than the late morning departure outside summer months. WRT easyJet, I have no idea how it is doing here. I have only used it once from Malpensa, and anyway I avoid Gatwick like the plague not least because it is hopeless for connections to the places I go. I am also avoiding LHR lately (severe overdose) but not this time!!
