Yesterday, coming down the escalator to catch my flight at the Qatar Airways Premium Terminal at Doha, I ran into the airline’s CEO and couldn’t resist asking him when the new airport will open. “End of this month” he said, adding “and for Qatar Airways end of next month”. Only a few days to go now, let’s keep our fingers crossed!

Am transiting on the night of Thr 24/Fri 25 Apr and back in on 30th, stopping over to depart on the morning of Thr 1st May. Could be interesting!
Does anyone know if the Premium Terminal will still be used for Premium passengers or will we use the normal Terminal when it opens?

Not sure what you don’t follow.

Read my post again. He is CEO of the airline, CEO of the airport, and chairs our JV.

Of course the opening delays are well documented.

He was Chairman of the airline and the airport when he said it would open in 2012. Is the fact that he is chair of some j/v supposed to lend it extra credibility?

I was also promised the 787 from JNB to DOH by the booking agent and at check-in 10 days ago. It was the 777 I then actually flew on!

On which date are they expecting to open Doha’s new airport? After that when are they expecting A380 flights operations with schedule? Would you please let me know.

I decided a while ago that I will believe the new airport is open when I get to use it! For me Al-Baker has no credibility, he says what he wants people to hear and is too arrogant to believe that people remember that he said something completely different last week.

About time if true, they make the most of the existing setup but it’s still all a bit of a shambles. There’s going to be an enormous fleet of Cobus buses going spare when it finally opens, perhaps LHR could buy them on the cheap!
