Hi all, this is not a business travel query but more of a leisure one…I have 4 days to spare in-between meetings in London in May. As I have never been to Norway, so decided to check out the well publicized Norway in a Nutshell rail link between Bergen and Oslo. I have booked flights into Bergen and out of Oslo. Suddenly I realized, how am I going to cart all my luggage from Bergen to Oslo whilst trying to enjoy the rail /ferry ride incorporating so many stops!! Any suggestions including accommodation etc very much appreciated…

I have done this beautiful trip several times but not recently. At Flam the transfer to the “cog” railway line down to Fram is across the platform and at Flam the train station is right next to the dock for the ferry. I cannot remember how far the bus to Voss is from the other ferry dock and at Voss the bus stopped at the train station. Plenty of overnight accommodation in Geilo and Voss. For an atmospheric read on your trip try the crime novel 1222 by the Norwegian, Anne Holt, but available in English set in deepest winter on this line

Bring your foul weather gear; Bergen is notoriously wet.

Alternatively, since you have never been to Norway, do yourself a favour, just stay put in Oslo and enjoy the wonderful things it has to offer.

Munch Museum, Viking & Folk Museum in Bygdøy, Gustav Vigeland statues in Frogner Park, Holmenkollen Ski Jump (and stunning views of Oslo Fjord), etc, etc

Thanks so much for your valuable suggestions and the heads up on the Bergen weather!
