This just popped up in my Facebook feed, I quite like it and have bought one (well, pledged to buy one on Kickstarter). Looks to have everything I’d want from a carry on case.

I’m in no way affiliated with the product so I don’t think I’m spamming the board with this, just thought I’d share it as I like the product in question.

Interesting, the handbag/backpack strap is definitely something I wish all cases had and am slightly suprised they don’t. The laptop charging would be handy too, but I don’t know how useful the other features would be in reality.

On the subject, am I the only one that dislikes 4 wheeled baggage? Had to search high and low for a 2 wheeled Samsonite cabin bag recently.

I think taller people favour rolling a 4×4, but at 5’7”, my preference is using 2 wheels.

Couldn’t work out whether it was cabin size approved.

This is very similar to the bluesmart bag that came out around christmas. I bought the bluesmart and have been very happy with it for the most part.

I like it and I prefer the 4 wheel concept. I’d imagine you’d have to plug it in overnight to recharge the built in battery,

My only real question is how strong are those wheels if you have to check the bag in. They look like they’d break off quite easily.

Really interested to hear a report on the ‘tracking’ facility of any luggage and how effective this is. I currently use trakdot.com units but would much prefer to have the tracker built into the case.

So the bluesmart has the tracking built in. A couple of points
Tracking only works if you have a charge on you battery
The battery takes about 4 hours to completely charge
a fully charged battery last about 3 days depending on use
you get 10 or 15 free location tracks then you have to pay for more
your bag must be turned on and the on switch is in the lining of the bag
the location track is good to about 10 meters
the autolock feature is nice, so when you are a certain distance from your bag it locks itself. this is nice if you want to leave your back in the storage room at an airline club
The bag is very durable so far
I think $400 is a bit strong but feel it would be a value at $300

    @ itlhoutx

did purchase the case from a store or the website and do you whether the tracking system works outside of the USA?

    Kind regards

I also dislike 4 wheeled luggage, as it rolls out of control on trains and busses.

The thing that gets me with all of these suitcase innovations (there have been a few on Kickstarter) is weight. 3.6kg for the carry-on, it says. Forget it. Anything over roughly 1kg is a nonstarter for me. BA may have 23kg carry-on allowance (if I remember correctly) but most airlines are more like 10kg, some as low as 7kg.

As for built in batteries – strikes me that with more attention being focussed on the dangers of lithium-ion battery fires on aircraft, there’s only one direction the regulations on that are going to go…

Perhaps I’m just old and cynical 😉 but I can’t help feeling a lot of these ‘high-tech’ cases are solutions looking for a problem… YMMV of course 😉

I also think the built in charger is a bit of a gimmick and probably a ‘problem creator’, especially as there are so many light weight, pocket size charging options.

For me its the tracker I am interested in, but for now I am quite happy with Trakdot as it is a very cost effective option and does work 95% of the time.
