Happy New Year from Hawaii, as usual the last place on earth to enter the New Year.
Safe Travels to all.
How great that 2011 was one of the safest for air transport, let us hope the trend continues for 2012.
Happy New Year, indeed.

Happy New Year to all. So far 2012 has been a fabulous year.
Thanks Rich, that was what I was looking for!!
The current enhancement to 2012 I am looking for is a BA (NCW) sale enabling a sensible price for my upcoming BKK run. Is Father New Year about to appear!!!!
Safe travelling everyone!

I believe as from Jan 23 this is year of the dragon. From other posts, that would seem to mean a good year for some BA staff at the Concorde Lounge. And certainly some UA flight attendants.
Any New Year resolutions anyone?
My one is to see more of the world, and while I've seen most of the world, it's usually been confined to airports and city hotels. So I want to see more of the real world.
My old school has a project near Dodoma in Tanzania which I hope to get involved with in a more practical way other than just donating cash. That will be a good start.

Anyone in HKG and fancy dinner Monday or Tuesday evening. Staying Kowloon area.

Happy New Year from San Antonio, Texas.
Martyn: What a shame that you are in my home turf and I would have loved meeting you for dinner since we exchanged quite of lot of travel information on BT in the past but unfortunately I am in Patagonia, Chile for the Chinese New Year period!
Another time perhaps.
FC - enjoy the celebrations in Patagonia. Even though its a public holiday we had meetings scheduled but due to road closures and limited access to hotel this afternoon and evening, all the well laid out plans have had to be changed.
Any suggestions where this 50 year old fish eating (not prawns, crab, lobster etc) veggie, could go and eat and find some company, preferably decent, but anything considered (refering to both company and food)!!!
Staying at the Sheraton in Kowloon near the MRT and will be free from around 5pm (on the basis, I'm allowed to leave the hotel).
I have an excellent harbour view room for the fireworks.
PS - for clarity, by "company" didnt meant to imply soi nana / cowboy type. Somewhere to go to meet single traveller types etc.

Gong Xi Fa Cai to all to all who are celebtrating chinese new year.
The fireworks from Marina Bay Sands in Singapore last night were fantastic!

celebrated the new year in taiwan last night and arrived in KL today for a couple of days R&R!
Martyn, I was there at the weekend, missed you by a day! maybe next time!
Martyn: Unfortunately the Chinese New Year period is a difficult period to find company (understands no soi COWBOY or Wanchai bit!) as there are almost no male or female business people in HK and definitely NO Chinese singles around as they are with their family or away on holiday)
Since you do not like crustaceans, you could go to Lan Kwai Fong on Hong Kong Island and see which fish restaurants are open for business.
There is a Japanese Sushi restaurant (red colour) on Lynhurst Terrace right next to the Central Escalator where you might just find somebody in your own position to strike up a conversation and perhaps socializing afterward.
You would not find many places with fresh fish as the fishermen would have long gone off some where or their Chinese New Year celebration by now!
Enjoy HK during the Chinese New Year nevertheless!

I highly recommend the soft shell crab and the drip filter coffee at Indochine in LKF. If you are a smoker they have a nice terrace! Usually you have to book several days in advance but I wa sthere sat night and it was empty! Soho was dead by 10pm as well.
