From 7th December until 13th December 2011 Lufthansa will apparently be running a short 'flash sale' for economy flights on selected routes.

The fares mentioned thus-far are:

Addis Ababa from 349 GBP return

Abuja from 499 GBP return

Lagos from 469 GBP return

Johannesburg from 489 GBP return

Cairo from 299 GBP return

- with departure points of Aberdeen, Birmingham, Edinburgh, London Heathrow and Manchester.

The promo landing page will appear at:

http://bitly.com/tc8TGz

- although as yet it's returning a nil-result.

The booking period for the offer will be between 07/12/2011 and 13/12/2011, for travel between 01/02/2012 and 31/03/2012.

The heads-up may be useful to some, prior to the next major sale period for most European carriers - which looks likely to commence on 22nd December.

The promotion is now live, although somewhat curiously Lufthansa are [edited with burnt fingers: *is* :-)] advertising higher fares than those heralded above.

Nevertheless, a dummy booking shows that the fares quoted above are indeed available, give or take some pennies.

Availability to Johannesburg looks particularly good - A380 operated from Frankfurt, of course - at an actual fare of £489.60 return exLHR.

Similar offers are available ex Europe with Luftie highlighting Addis Ababa for some reason.

Give or take a pfennig or two, fares are roughly the same.
