Lufthansa CRJ900 Economy (short haul)

Manchester to Dusseldorf operated by Eurowings. Terminal 1 is a spacious, airy place, but Lufthansa were pushed into (or were only prepared to pay for) a tiny corridor. Our check-in desks were 60-64 of which only two were manned, and one of those were for business class. The self check in kiosks didn't seem to work. Around 200 people / passengers were milling about for various Lufthansa destinations in zig zag aisles.
Eventually a LH employee started to pull out of the queue anyone who was on a later flight to try and alleviate the problem but still we queued for nearly an hour to check-in, despite the queue having been considerably shortened.
Boarding was across the tarmac and up onto the aircraft. We were in row 11. We have yet to find a way to choose our seat. Leg room was satisfactory, side space limited. All the overhead space had been taken up by commuter luggage. The flight was just over an hour. We had a cheese favoured roll, free alcohol. Staff were fine. Arrived on time at Dusseldorf and we went back down the steps and were bussed to the terminal.
