Lufthansa are today, 11th November, offering a limited number of Business Class seats exUK from an advertised GBP1111 return:

Destinations available are: Seoul, Singapore, Tel Aviv, Addis & Dubai.

Conditions for this offer

Purchase by: 11.11.2011
Departure period: 20.12.2011-09.04.2012
Return period: 25.12.2011-09.07.2012Minimum Stay: 6 days or a Saturday night
Maximum stay: 3 month
Subject to availability

I did find availability to Singapore earlier - out 10/1 and back 16/1, but that seems to have gone. The others still have pockets of availability. Fares book into Z Class (200% M&M, 200% BD DC) and actually appear to start from GBP1086, rather than GBP1111.

Rather curious to use this particular "hook" to launch a promotion, and expecially so for this airline.

Are they upgradeable to F with miles?

continentalclub - 11/11/2011 10:59 GMT

The potential irony is not lost on me, VK.

......

I'm afraid I don't know the upgrade answer. Give me three minutes and I'll see if I can find out.

continentalclub - 11/11/2011 11:12 GMT

It seems that Z-Class is indeed upgradeable with Miles&More:

- albeit at a premium of an additional 15,000 Miles on top of the usual J>F rate.

VintageKrug - 11/11/2011 11:27 GMT

That's a very attractive deal!

"Rather curious to use this particular "hook" to launch a promotion, and expecially so for this airline."

Why?

I fear it is your cultural lens that is the problem, not their campaign.

It is indeed a very attractive deal. I have booked to Singapore in Z for the £1111 fare advertised and was astonished to also be able to upgrade to F with my miles.

That seems to me like a pretty good bargain!!!

I wish you all an excellent weekend.

Lufthansa has its (hope that is correct) HQ in Cologne where 11th of November is a very special date.

FlyingChinaman - 11/11/2011 13:16 GMT

The promotional fare from France and Italy is even better at Euro1111

I have no problem flying out of CDG As it has a few North American destinations plus Tel Aviv, Abu Dhabi,Dubai, Singapore and Seoul.

I hope to grab a few bargins before they disappeared!

To join this special occasion which happens once every 100 years, the US Expedia site has a 11-11-11 sale of upto a 50% or more on their top hotels!!!!

Happy travel time!

navAtwal - 11/11/2011 17:23 GMT

I too Have booked the fare to Singpaore in Z class.

How did you upgrade to First class, which carrier miles did you use and how many each way per sector?

continentalclub - 11/11/2011 17:30 GMT

As per post #4 in this thread, navAtwal, these fares are indeed upgradeable, subject to availability, for members of Lufthansa's Miles & More programme.

navAtwal - 11/11/2011 17:35 GMT

I am a BD member, could possibly arrnage to get the mile or transfer some over.

What I need to know is how many miles are needed to upgrade from Munich to Singapore from Biz to 1st class.

Then I can decide if it is worth it.

LuganoPirate - 12/11/2011 04:48 GMT

Offer still available ex Switzerland today for CHF1464

continentalclub - 23/11/2011 18:07 GMT

Hong Kong fr £1999
Seoul fr £2199
