I recently have flown on the daily Iberia A340 service between Madrid and London, and also on the Singapore Air Lines B777-300ER between Manchester and Munich. Both journeys were on a flat bed in business class on a flight of 2 hours and very nice they were too.
I know that LATAM flies between Frankfurt and Madrid with a 787. Does anybody else know any other examples of Long Haul aircraft configurations flying on short hops in Europe? It would be great to try them out. Thanks.

LOT originally chartered a 787 onto the Heathrow route – it is now a permanent addition as far as I know.

EK operate too many short haul routes in Europe with LH aircraft to name or count on two hands.

BA often roster a 767 (technically LH) onto Amsterdam, Frankfurt and a number of other cities. Additionally, a long haul 747 operates to Moscow.

    Korean fly Vienna to Zurich.

Air China fly Munich to Athens; Barcelona to Vienna.

QR fly Budapest to Zagreb; Bucharest to Sofia and Baku to Tblisi. Last one sometimes considered European rather than Asian. Besides, Eurovision… 😉

I think that about sums it up in addition to what you added. Most are ‘fifth freedom flights’ and some operate on the basis of an EU-wide agreement.

That’s a great list and bound to keep me busy. Thanks for your help! Might even get some BAEC tier points on those QR flights.

At least for Geneva I can think of:
    Kuwait airlines operate a A330 on FRA-GVA
    IBERIA occasionally operate a A340 on MAD-GVA-MAD
Aeroflot operate a A330 or 777 during peak winter season on SVO-GVA-SVO

Also recall that LAN operate MAD-FRA-MAD on a 787

Aer Lingus sometimes use an A330 on DUB-AGP.

Aer Lingus regularly operates an A330 (or at least used to) between Dublin and Málaga.

Finnair fri/sat/sun with A330, A340 or A350 between HEL and LHR. This is due to cargo needs.

TK operate IST – LHR with A330s and 773s as well as A321s.

They also operate A330s configured with long haul C on many routes including CDG, AMS, FRA, TXL, ZRH, GVA and probably quite a few more that I haven’t had reason to use.

I thought LOT’s 787 was only during introduction and LHR-WAW is now back to 734s and Embraers with the very odd appearance of a 787.

Aeroflot sometimes use A330s to LHR.

For EK, all I can find currently is they a operate a 777-300 between Malta and Larnaca, and Athens and Larnaca. I cannot find any other European S/H hops.
