a_canadian_travellerParticipantDepends on when. If travelling prior to November 20th, then LHR-YVR-HNL (or OGG until November 30th) is a brilliant way to do the trip. Good aircraft, good service, and good connection at the beautiful YVR. However, as of November 21st, the flights ex YVR (Dec 1st for OGG) become AC Rouge. Avoid avoid avoid. In that case, I suggest Delta via ATL, or – if you really want to stick with OneWorld – AA via DFW or LAX.
Have a great holiday!
Edited to mention that Delta’s ATL-HNL non-stop flight operates in the morning, so that suggestion (LHR-ATL-HNL, all Delta, both non-stop flights) does require an overnight at ATL. That said, it’s still a great way to do the journey after YVR’s flights become Rouge.
Edited a second time to point out that Air Canada’s weekly Saturday service from YVR to the Big Island (KOA) does not become a Rouge route for the winter, so I highly recommend that if you’re planning to visit the Big Island. Sorry for any confusion!

You don’t mention in what class you’re travelling?
And do you want to make it a stopover? If YVR then I highly recommend breaking your journey and I think the European flights arrive into YVR after the Island flights have left!Beware AC and their 10 across in Y , their Exec class is excellent though and far superior to BA’s CW.
And I also like Bath_ VIP’s idea, Although Canada is pretty much a OW barren zone, especially if heading to HNL via YVR
I noticed Vancouver topped your intermediate stops, possibly look the ex-Dub OW deals to YVR and book separately on Westjet, an airline with a great reputation. .

newbieflyerParticipanttraveled with united for this route in July. Got upgraded to Eco Plus on both directions. On the whole a very good flight, with connection at LAX no issues at all. Immigration took us around 20 minutes each way.
I do have a trip report on another website, but not sure if i can paste the link here.24 Oct 2014

PeterCoultasParticipantShortest route is via YVR (but PDX is not that bad though this is a US entry). Also this is probably the best price with maybe separate tickets for UK-YVR and YVR-hawaii. Sadly although RTW would be good on via Tokyo/PEK/Seoul to minimise jet lag, no major alliance offers a decent fare on that route (silly prices these days for ALL one world/star/sky team RTW fares)

SwitzerlandingParticipantAs canucklad mentioned depends what class you’re travelling in. I’m in Kauai right now and flying a mixture Club/First with BA/AA the best option price wise is AMS-LHR-LAX-LIH but you have to get to and from AMS. Connection in LAX last week wasn’t too bad, just 30 mins from plane to the AA lounge waiting for the onward connection. Also can fly from DFW into HNL and LIH with AA or from PHX with US. Problem with the LAX connection is a long wait on the way back to Europe.

1nfrequentParticipantIf you’re keen on Vancouver, then you might want to consider using Alaska from Seattle – it’s a short hop from Vancouver and their domestic first class product is comparable to AA’s domestic first class product.
