Kangaroo Route business bargains

I am planning a trip next year to Sydney, out beginning Feb, back mid March.

Have been shopping about and the best business fare I can find so far (I am paying for me and MrsM, not work) is £2400ish with China Eastern.

Any tips greatly appreciated. Have tried MartynSinclairs ex Europe with BA with no real success. Have tried Hipmunk (love that app), ebookers and I think all the Kangaroo Route airlines, including Garuda and that is showing nothing available.

Any tips please?

I am playing the same game at the moment with flights to Melbourne in October or November. I self fund two trips per year to Aus in business so it’s a game I know all too well.

Feb/March is a great time as it’s one of the lowest seasons and there are always great deals to be had. I usually book around October or November time for Feb/March travel.

Emirates and Etihad have fares available now from Dublin to Aus for around £2200-£2300 which are great deals if Dublin is convenient for you. The Emirates flights leave at reasonable times from Dublin so no need for an overnight stay.

Start up routes can have great deals as they entice new customers, as do routes where airlines have increased capacity – and you can usually get points bonuses on those routes too.

Shame Qatar don’t fly to Sydney as they usually do a flash 2-4-1 deal for travel at that time. We went in March this year for £4600 ex-LHR for both of us (which I booked in November last year). I think both Emirates and Etihad do something similar too.

Hope that helps – it’s a bit of a waiting game really, most of the sale fares out at the moment are for Aug/Sept travel, so I’m waiting for the summer season to finish and then usually the real bargains come out. Also, it pays to sign up to airline emails as they sometimes only offer the sale fares through their own websites, which you would generally only find out about if you’re registered with them.

Really appreciate the tips everybody, best I have found so far is China Airlines from Amsterdam at a tad under £1800, however the transit times are pretty horrendous. Checked out the OSLO flight and found it for £2300 via HK and with CX to Sydney. Finnair not coming out too cheap, nor Dublin at the mo. Think I will do as MrDarwin suggests and see what it is like early October.

You just missed a flash sale which i put on here for Etihad from CDG.

Firstly i managed to get a return business flight to Sydney for £1,650 equiv in Euros in euros, an excellent fare, half the price of ex LHR.
I got a return Business to KUL with 2 night complimentary stopover one way with chauffeur cars each end and for the stopovers included, as most of Asia was Euros 1,500 until 2nd August. It included the stopovers as ever and cars for each destination.

i also used miles that i had and upgraded my ultra long haul from AUH to SYD upgraded to a First class suite, and you are in one of the best First class services in the world.

Maybe check some of their dates ahead, and if you do not mind a quick flight with AF over to CDG, Etihad have a very comfortable A346 at 11am and 9pm each eve. They each connect down to the major australian cities,. but don’t forget you get two complimentary nights stopover in DXB or AUH in excellent 5+* hotels with cars to whisk you to and from.your hotel choice

.Every extra night you want to stay will be around half any rates elsewhere and include all taxes and breakfast. Chauffeur cars will take you to and from the Premium Terminal.

I was very lucky to get these fares but their CDG routes are far quieter so they are well worth considering especially if there are two or more of you. Etihads ground services syrpace all others in complimentary stopovers and chauffeur cars included, as well as you starting and end point to and from.

You also will earn many miles and well may make Silver for starters in one trip. You can also bid for an upgrade to first a few days before should you wish. their First Cabins with chefs on Board and as and when you like food to order are superb.They allow you family memberships of the FF Guest program, so all the milers can be pooled into one account. You may even be lucky and have double or triple miles as we did when we travelled last in Feb.

certainly give them a go, but their sales from CDG still some around, but try different EU gateways, and you could be getting a fare such as mine £1,000 less than any other Airline.

I know I know I am mad, I am heading to BNE on the 14th August on MH and am paying £2,300 return in J class, I know it is probably not the best airline to be travelling on currently, but have travelled them before, and is a great service especially on the A380 LHR-KUL so I am doing it again, and lets be honest they need the business.. OSL-LHR-SIN-SYD return for £3900 for 2x people. Flying out end of March back third week in April.
