VintageKrugParticipantSeems Robin Hood Airport (no idea where that is) was shut on Monday after the splendid Vulcan exploded on the runway.
Doesn’t look like it will be operational for the Jubilee flyover this weekend. A real shame, and I doubt it will be up and about in time for the airshows this summer:

MartynSinclairParticipantIts north of Watford Gap!
Old RAF Finningley, between Sheffield and Doncaster.

Saffjoyfox3ParticipantIt’ll be a real pity if the amazing Vulcan is grounded. It’s due to be at Farnborough for the family weekend of 14/15 July. Was looking forward to seeing it in the air display.

VintageKrugParticipantThe news seems to be encouraging; they’re looking to replace the engines in time for RIAT on 7th July:

VintageKrugParticipantI’m not very interested in The North, especially since they ran out of coal.

LuganoPirateParticipantExplains the demise of BMI then. No more coal to fuel their craft!

SimonS1ParticipantI do love people who start threads and post links without reading them properly. A good way of reinforcing one’s credibility (or lack of).
Maybe the Vulcan should be repainted in BA livery, it could be used as WW’s corporate transport. Money is no object these days when it comes to a CEO’s expense package. To fly to serve, as they say.

stevescootsParticipantStill plenty of coal up North VK, just too expensive to extract it!

VintageKrugParticipantGood to see the Vulcan showing she’s still got it after all these years at the opening of Farnborough 2012:

One of the final flights will be at the Sunderland Airshow
Great to see how the ’50s design still appears to have influenced the F-35 Lightning II which was the subject of the Air League’s Andrew Humphrey Memorial Lecture today, given by a very polished Stephen O’Bryan.

and that UK Plc contributes 15% of the parts to an ostensibly US aircraft.
