The design of the banner advertising here on the BT board seems once again to have changed. I am accessing the site on my laptop running Firefox and the Finair advert now covers the entire page with each click through and requires me to cancel it each time. I appreciate of course the site needs advertising to survive but there is a point where the advert makes me want to avoid the site altogether. Very annoying !

Try the free Adblock Plus add in for your browser.

I installed it a while back and it blocks all the adverts, top and side, and speeds things up.

This one is perhaps one of the worst as it spans across all the top page links on every browser so a fair bit of real estate. The add doesn’t push the rest of the page down accordingly it just covers all the links. I thought the relaunch/some changes was coming to the site soon?

Thanks for the feedback. We have paused the ads for the moment to allow our client time to fix them.

If an advert in any media is annoying or offensive, such as the Finnair banner, we don’t buy their products. A natural reaction.

Hopefully the opposite applies as well

Whilst I agree the manner in which the adverts are appearing is annoying, especially when you don’t know how to cancel / clear them from the screen……. I am though….. always interested to see bona fide adverts, especially, if they are providing clear links to something new…. like discounts for BT Forum contributors!!

I used to fly Finnair to Asia and if the products were improved (I found the poor and long inflight night service pretty awful) I would give them a try again… perhaps…

I doubt Finnair intended for their advert to be annoying to potential customers, it is surely counter intuitive to do so. I also doubt that Finnair arrange/technically design their own online advertising but will have an advertising company do it for them. So I rather think criticism of Finnair on it a tad unfair on them.

For this forum to survive…free…it needs advertising and needs us all to click the links from time to time to let the advertisers know we are worth “paying for”.

Finnair have contacted us to apologise to readers for the technical error that caused the problem with the ad earlier this week.

Shame they don’t fly to South Africa as I’d like to try the new A350,

Finnairs annoying banner which causes the BT pages to jump around states A350 “the quietest aircraft”. Depends on whether there are two passengers talking incessantly and getting louder the more they drink, screaming whingeing kids, banging and chatting in the galley and those that prefer to slam the overhead lockers………etc!
