If you are looking for the perfect antidote to a modern hectic lifestyle, then try Inis Meain the “middle island” in the Aran Islands in Galway Bay, and visit the Inis Meain Restaurant and Suites, an amazing 5 room hotel, with the most outstanding food, run by Ruari and Marie-Therese de Blacam. Perfect……

Not the easiest place in the World to get to… Rodders!

Any of the Arran Islands is worth a visit…. Be sure to fly from Inverin! The best 9 mins I ever spent in an aircraft (Concorde excluded!)

    Next stop USA!

Have always wanted to visit the Aran Islands and the hotel looks very special indeed. Now in my must dos thanks rodders. I wonder why it’s closed between October and March 😉

icenspice – you clearly have never been to the west of Ireland in the winter…. Along with many hotels in the remote west (Ireland and Scotland) seasonal closure is a business and meteorological necessity!!

I will bear that in mind thanks Tom. I come from the east coast of Ireland which, as you know, is in an entirely different climatic zone 😉

How does one get to Kerry from London, without flying Ryanair ?

Aer Lingus to Shannon from LHR would be your best bet Bullfrog.

Indeed, Aer Lingus to Shannon and then a nice 2 hr drive to Connemara Regional Airport (Inverin) and the wonderful BN islander flight on Aer Aran Islands a bargain at Euros 44 return.

rodders since your report I have been in contact with Marie at the hotel she is delightful, as this is exactly what my partner and I are looking for when we head back to Europe for our holidays this year, something off the beaten track…. I will update here once we have stayed there but thank you for the tips I cannot wait to sample their hospitality

If you are looking for a place to stay, off the beaten track, try Broad Bay House on Isle of Lewis, Scotland, or Scarista House, Hariris.

Scarista Beach and Luskintyre Beach are stunning …
