I’m a Platinum Royal Ambassador on IHG since more 6 years, I booked a reward night and cancel it, they charged me € 750,00 for the night, I was completely agree than they used my points but everybody hided behind the rules without negotiation, it’s a robbery!

PQ – You booked a ‘reward’ night (presumably for free?) and they charged you EUR750 to cancel. How so?

I can’t be the only one who has noticed the number of one post rants that have appeared over the last ten days or so. Someone is game playing methinks.

Maybe not WillieWalsh. As I recall, if you no show a reward booking they are entitled to charge you one night. Haven’t looked at the rules lately so correct me if I m wrong.

I booked two nights, a Sunday and Monday in Monaco at Le Meridien recently. Non changeable, non refundable, no show fully charged.

Except I accidentally booked the Saturday and Sunday. I got the day/dates muddled.

Expecting the worse and hoping they would at least let me stay the Sunday night I was both surprised and delighted when the receptionist told me she would let me stay both nights and I would not be charged for the Saturday. that’s service and will ensure my return there next time.

I cannot be an advocate for IHG as i am not a member ,however I can confirm that SPG ( Starwood Preferred Guest ) is indeed the most powerful tool Starwood has and is in my eyes the most rewarding Hotel Loyalty scheme around .You get status nights even on Reward Redemption nights !!!!!!!!!!!!..amazingly attractive and seriously rewarding !
