SwissExPatParticipantAs of 1 jan, the Hilton at Dublin Airport is imposing a two euro charge for use of their own shuttle bus for travel to Dublin airport.
Others may be able to advise is this is a first for own brand shuttle bus charges but seems very petty to me.
I communicated my major dissatisfaction to them!
What next, rental car companies doing the same?

businessclassgoodfirstclassbetterParticipantI find that the Hilton’s I have stayed at near airports charge for the shuttle bus e.g. Hilton London Stansted Airport and London Heathrow Airport Terminal 5.
It seems to be becoming the norm and is a total rip-off. Unfortunately, the hotels are too far out the way to walk, so you are forced into using the shuttle bus to get to the hotel!

NTarrantParticipantI hope they have improved the frequency at Dublin. I ended up sharing a taxi with a Frenchman as we both arrived at the bus stop to see it disappear in the distance. Next one in 45 minutes. The taxi was €16.00 I think. €2.00 is cheaper than the taxi, the hotel is some way out.
The T5 Hilton does not have its own shuttle, that is provided by National Express.

PatJordanParticipantI think the crux of this issue is the distance between some “Airport Hotels” and the actual airport.
As good as the Hilton Dublin Airport is, it is several miles away from the airport, hence the need for some form of transport. 2 Euro isn’t much, but the principle of charging for this essential service is questionable.
Suppose a traveller from outside the Eurozone arrives without small denominations…will they be refused carriage??

SwissExPatParticipantHilton at T4 runs a half hour schedule to T5…. And no charge!
Exactly what I’d expect.

RichardBParticipantwhat about using public transport at heathrow since the buses in the area around heathrow are free and hotels are shown on the map below

SimonS1ParticipantReally the same way as some other hotels and some airlines are going. Offer the lowest headline rate and charge for add ons.
At €2 it seems a bit silly for a supposed premium brand, however it’s similar to the baggage debate – if I am travelling with a briefcase why would I pay the same as someone with 20kg if baggage.
