I will be in El Salvador for 48 hours next week. I have had a look at hotels and will probably opt for one in San Salvador instead of one on the coast.

Apart from that, any general advice would be much appreciated for a first-time visitor.

    Thank you

Whichever hotel you choose and I recommend the Intercontinental in San Salvador make sure you arrange a car to pick you up from the airport! The drive is about 1 hour so make sure you have enough time when heading back ….

Depending on where you are from you have to pay to get into El Salvador, if you have a UK passport you do not!

There were reports recently of violence in the streets of San Salvador so I wouldn’t recommend walking around at night on your own, albeit if you have meetings or entertained by colleagues etc the food in the restaurants is generally very good with fish being excellent!

In all I really like the people, they are genuine and do look out for you, make sure you get taken to the malls at lunchtime to see the ritual of locals eating amongst all of the small food outlets…

    Many thanks K1ngston.

I’m looking forward to the trip but not in the same way as 10 years ago!

    Will report back.
