Don't expect FAREness in Air Fares and Fuel Surcharges!

A number of posters have complained of inequities with fares and, in particular, fuel surcharges.

Air Canada is no stranger to this policy. Their fare basis between Toronto YYZ and Tokyo NRT are particularly bad and discriminatory against Canadians!

For example, someone in Japan wishing to visit Toronto in October can purchase an economy return ticket for CA$632 plus taxes, plus $0 fuel surcharge.

Canadians buying in Canada must pay CA$838 plus taxes, plus $170 fuel surcharge!

Taxes are the same regardless of origin.

This is nothing to do with traffic demands or peak traffic periods. Air Canada really has a policy of discriminating against it's frequently less savvy Canadian travellers.

There seems to be absolutely no relationship between distances and what airlines charge for fuel surcharge; it's just a matter of what they can get away with.
