Cross Country Trains Review : Manchester to Basingstoke

CrossCountry are poor, even on good days.

It does stun me, that tempratures in the 20’s ,low 30’s can start to affect a modern rail network…

I mean how do they cope in Spain, or even Germany ……

This country is backwards ……

Cross Country and First TPE trains are simply to small at only 3 to 5 cars long.

Just as well you weren’t travelling yesterday on this FGW train delayed for almost 6 hours.

Moorgate line does not have the oldest trains in the country. Island line on the Isle of Wight does. And there are older stock on other lines, strange as it may feel!

My mum went from birmingham to manchester on a cross country train. The train was 10 minutes late and stood at the station for another 10 minutes.

Due to the train being late more people were waiting resulting in the train being over crowded.

My mum managed to get a seat but there was this drunk man sat next to her shouting abuse. She couldn’t move to another seat because there were no seats people were stood up waiting for seats.

She had to listen to this man shouting abuse for the whole length of the journey. Staff went past this person and didn’t do anything about it.

After my mum told me about this incident I attempted to contact cross country using their Facebook page. They said they can’t do anything without knowing the nature of the things this man was shouting out and that she should have found a member of staff to complain.

meaning she should have got up and lost the only seat she had and stood up for the rest of the journey.

My mum is over 60 she shouldn’t have to deal with such things at her age.

I tried asking cross country why they think its ok for someone to swear on their train and they blocked me from their Facebook page and removed my comments trying to hide the truth and just clean up their image I think this was a very disgusting move by cross country that I am not even allowed to express how I / My mum feels about their services on their Facebook page.

I would have been more than happy for them to remove the comments after the issue is resolved but they were shameless and are trying to hide the truth by deleting my comments and blocking me from commenting on their page about this issue.

Don’t travel with cross country they are disgusting shameless people.

Agree with all comments here. Company HQ in Leeds so regularly use Cross Country from Birmingham/Tamworth. Always reserve seat especially for return around 1700 as it’s crowded. Seating cramped, even at a table.

Latest return I had to change at Derby for Tamworth, Derby station light and airy. However, the train (destination Cardiff) was old, dirty, smelly. Only place I fancied sitting was by the door on a jump seat. Thankfully it was only 2 stops.

West Coast a far better experience.
