    Get 25% off Avis

    http://www.avios.com/gb/en_gb/spend/deals-of-the-week

On the other hand, try this site and get a really good deal all year round

    http://www.travelsupermarket.com/c/cheap-car-hire/

PS: I have no affiliation with the above site, other than as a user for several years and am sharing the link again, for the potential benefit of BT readers, as I think you may be surprised at how competitive the offers can be.

Good advice. Most airlines offer a good discount on car rental but the discount is always on a marked up price, so it’s invariably cheaper to book direct. Even cheaper using the site mentioned or, as I do, Google “car rental place name” and all the much cheaper local sites come up.

To be frank, the additional 500 miles per rental incentive (not per day) the big boys offer is so derisory it’s not even worth taking. Not to mention they’re not even status miles!

Agree with the OP. All the hype about unmissable Avios offers, and all they can come up with is 25% discount at Avis.

I would never dream of booking car hire through an airline. Always use travelsupermarket and save a bundle.

I can hardly contain my excitement at what the next offer might be!

Well, according to Raffles, the next Avios offer – 50% off hotels in certain locations, might not be as dismissible.

mm 50% off rack rate of 5 star deluxe hotels in January in the middle of the largest recession in a generation.

Reckon I could miss that quite happily.

For clarity, the comment above refers to the travelsupermarket link in the first post and not the headforpoints link – although there are ‘very competitive’ offers on my site as well!
