AhmadParticipantI shall be traveling to the Middle East next month and have an extended stay of about two weeks in Abu Dhabi. I have been given a choice between a Premium Suite at the Yas Island Rotana and a Deluxe Balcony Room (which may be upgraded to a Mangrove Balcony Room at check-in) at the Anantara Eastern Mangroves Hotel. Since the stay is a longish one, I am in two minds. The Anantara appears to be the better hotel but the offer of a nice suite at the Rotana is tempting.
All suggestions would be gratefully received, particularly from folk who have stayed at either of the two hotels recently.

BTMEEditorParticipantEastern Mangroves is an attractive hotel with Anantara-style designs and the mangrove views. I haven’t stayed in the Yas Island Rotana but I’m sure it would be comfortable. Bear in mind they’re in different parts of the city…depends if sight-seeing or unwinding is top of your agenda.
At EM you’re closer to the centre, but at Yas you’ll have more attractions nearby (Ferrari World/Yas Waterworld) and it’s accessible, not far from the highway to Saadiyat Island, nor the highway up to Dubai should you want to make day visits.17 Sep 2014

thebigseatsParticipantI stayed at the Yas Rotana for several weeks in a Suite & it was good. The location is better than Eastern Mangroves in my view although EM will be more upmarket. Yas Plaza (where Rotana is) contains six hotels; Rotana/Centro; Crowne Plaza/Staybridge; Radisson Blu/Park Inn – see the theme? They all have dining options & Yas Links Golf Club 15 minutes walk away has a very nice bar/food venue too. Plus its 15 mins to AUH airport & 30 mins. to downtown. Taxis are inexpensive.

AhmadParticipantThank you all for your comments.
My main reason for concern about the Rotana is that in that part of the world there is a huge difference between four and five star hotels. Some services taken for granted in the West and the Far East are not available in ME four star hotels and other services, whilst available, are not imparted round the clock or are not of the same standard. There are exceptions to this of course and I was wondering whether the Yas Island Rotana is one such exception. The larger accommodation is definitely a big plus when staying longer than a week, hence I am tempted to go for the Rotana. The upmarket factor, although important in that part of the world is not a concern this time round.
Thebigseats, may I ask whether you stayed in the premium suite? Also what was the wifi like?

esselleParticipantI have stayed at both the Viceroy and the Shangri-La, and have no hesitation in recommending them both.
I have also stayed at the (quite new) Premier Inn, which is a two minute walk from T3. Clean, quiet, warm and comfortable, and an ideal stop if you have a departure at 0700.

AhmadParticipantWill keep the Premier Inn in mind if I ever have to transit at AUH esselle. I don’t have much choice in accommodation on this trip since it is dependent on who the company paying for my stay has contracts with. I had heard good things about the Shangri-la and had asked whether that was a possibility, unfortunately it wasn’t. My choice is restricted to these two hotels for this particular trip. Unfortunately, the only silver lining is that I have been given the choice to opt for a suite at the Rotana instead of just being restricted to the Anantara room.

thebigseatsParticipantAhmadR – cannot recall if a Premium Suite but was large with separate lounge & wet bar/breakfast bar area. Comfortable. WiFi was OK & reliable too.

JohnVachelParticipantIn this aspect, The opinion differs from person to person. Firstly, You need to check out your comfortableness and give more priority to that, according to my view each of them is good to stay and you can mostly extend your tour because of their best and marvellous facilities.

MarcusGBParticipantEtihad actually offer 2/3 Nights complimentary stays for Business or First passengers, including Limousine transfers.
However, they have a very useful summary of many 3-5*+, hotels in their stopover brochure, and it helps to look at their range and write up.
The Jumeirah at Etihad Towers is excellent, as is the Intercontinental, both with beaches.
Not as expensive as you may think…Etihad have an agency you may well be able to book with direct also.

prebuddaParticipantWith the help of online sources we have a very best facility to know about the travel destination places and hotel information as per comfortableness. The mode of choice about selection of hotel is completely depends upon the satisfaction of ourself.
