Cathay: Up To 250% Bonus Asia Miles On LHR-HKG In Business Or First Until 30 Jun 2012

From today (16 January) until the end of June, Cathay are offering 50% bonus Asia Miles to UK Marco Polo Club members travelling Business or First round-trip in F,A,J,C,D,I class between Heathrow and Hong Kong.

Second and subsequent round-trips within the promotional period will earn a 250% bonus.

Bookings made online directly with Cathay will attract a further 2,000 Asia Miles, although no registration is required for any of the promotions.

Passengers who are not yet members of the MPC can additionally earn a one-off joining bonus of 500 Asia Miles.

Methinks that CX are getting a little hot under the collar with the new Hong Kong Airlines flight launching in March...

That is a hell of a lot of bonus miles though for 2nd trip onwards.

It may also reflect Qantas coming off the route and therefore be an incentive to attract oneworld earners across to both Cathay and Marco Polo Club, I suppose.

It'll be interesting to see how Air New Zealand gets on with it's HKG-LHR route and the entry of Hong Kong Airlines, especially if CX do indeed 'up the ante' in response.
