    Hi All,

I was on DEL-DXB last weekend and found out that the cabin temperature was too low ( it felt like it was 13*C-15*C). However, when I checked with cabin crew the default temperature they set is 20-23. I was on seat 25E on 777-200

    Any comments?

    Regards,
    Sarvesh

Hello Sarvesh, I´ve never travelled that particular route but I find lately I have to ask for an aisle seat as I freeze when I sit by the window. It´s very annoyng when airlines oversee the temperature comfort factor

I was on a flight from Panama to Kingston on a Copra Embraer aircraft and it was freezing! I asked them to put the temperature up and they did until the cabin was like a sauna, to which I had to ask them to lower the temperature, and the CSD’s response was I am sorry those Brazilians could never regulate temperature which made me smile!!!!

Apparently its a problem on all Embraer aircraft so make sure you take something warm with you it really was not pleasant

I’m the opposite I’m afraid. I enjoy a cool cabin. You can always wrap a blanket round you, but there’s only so much you can take off if it’s too warm!

    LP,

I am the same except when I am directly below the vent! In fact as I am typing this, I’ve just realised I am under the vent in the first class carriage of a Cross Country train. I am sitting in my usual preferred seat but didn’t notice it before as I’m wearing a jumper.

Bath, agree with you there, the constant stream of cold air can be very annoying. Can you move seat or is it full?

A few years ago my friend was on a charter flight…the airline in question was Thomas Cook Airlines…he said the cabin was absolutely freezing…a few people had complained about the low cabin temperature and had asked for blankets including my friend…the female flight attendant told my friend a blanket plus a pillow had a cost of £5.00!!.

    Sarvesh,

It’s got nothing to do with that particular sector you were flying on; I have had several flights on the DXB-MUM sector where I have had to ask the crew to increase the air temperature since it became freezing cold. I noticed it more on flights where I was already exhausted, I feel colder when I am tired..

Nothing much you can do about it but carry your own blanket/warmer..

    Cheers,
    Moadweeb

With you LP, a cool cabin all the time.

I’ve had some horror flights were the temperature was racked up to the max, presumably to make us all lethargic and sleepy.

Having said that you’re right Bath_VIP’s . Being below a vent is very annoying and can actually end up being a “right pain in the neck” : )

Skywards, maybe it was an inventive way of raising revenue, nothing better than being in control of your own supply and demand !

    LP,

Yes I could have moved seat but it wasn’t particularly noticeable yesterday. Indeed it wasn’t until I read this thread that I realised there was a vent. However, in the past, it has been fiercer and I have moved seat.

For those not familiar with Cross Country’s First Class, their seat layout is 2 x 1. On the 2 side, the seats are either airline layout or 4 around a table. My favourite is the Aisle Airline seat as you have plenty of width (especially if the window seat is empty), the table legs are well positioned for leg room and you can raise the table if you don’t want it. Unfortunately the drawback is that you are directly under the air vent so I have long since learnt that you need a jumper even on a hot day!

Ah well reading this, I just have to tell you guys, you are so lucky to only have to worry about the external temperature! As a “lady of a certain age” my thermostat has gone haywire and let me tell you on our last flight back from YVR, it was so hot in the cabin, I thought I was going to expire! I went and asked the CC to turn the heat down and she looked at me a bit odd, as it was just the perfect temperature in the galley, but as she stepped into the F cabin, she did gasp at the huge increase in temperature! So on that occasion, it was not just my thermostat!

I think I’ve told you before when I first moved to London, I shared a house with 3 lovely, beautiful, always tanned, long limbed, stunning – need I go on! 😉 :-). – BCal hosties, all Number Ones, so you can just imagine the shenanigans! LOL!

Anyway, a favourite trick of theirs was always to crank up the heat to make everyone go to sleep! Especially doon the back! Worked every time apparently!

    Moadweeb,

I think you are right. I was so tired when I took that flight. However, I was worrying more for my 3 months old son. He couldnt sleep at all and was crying most of the time. All I could do is to take him and just take a walk and try to divert his attention.

    Hello Papillion

‘I thought I was going to expire!’

I have had the same experience, notably from Brazil to Frankfurt, and it is very unpleasant. Certain larger aircraft do not have individual air vents and, as others have mentioned, I prefer a cool cabin with a constant stream of air on my face. And if the cabin is too cold, it is easier to warm up with extra blankets, clothing etc. than trying to cool down.
