I have noticed that CX still has in wide use the knackered old biz class seating, without AVOD or full recline on many of its regional routes. As a frequent traveller on the HK – Sing route there is no competition between CX and SQ – CX only uses the knackered product on this route and even uses the awful old terminal at Changi – so SQ wins hands down – my several trips a month are all now on SQ, taking the 09.00 flight and returning on the 17.50 flight – both flights featuring the new biz seat.

I would however like to thank CX for informing me recently about a plane change on a Mumbai to HK leg which would have meant the knackered product being used at 2.40 am ! I promptly changed my ticket to Kingfisher – again a vastly superior product !

I therefore recommend others to boycot CX until they get their act together and use an up to date product on 3 hour + flights.

    Bizleader,

Hate to add more bad news. On the Bahrain to Hong Kong route, they use a 330 with the half reclining seats. Awful for a 7 hour night flight. I took the CX flight from Changi to Hong Kong a few weeks and the seat was bad, and the food worse. It had to be one of the worse meals that ive had in a long long time.

Come on CX, improve some basic seating.

    CrazyCanuck,

you are right ! CX should really consider to refurbish all regional C class and become one consistent product. Just look how TG is doing it with their regional aircrafts. I also experienced the A330 with its inferior C regional seat on the BAH-HKG route. It was just a horrible seating experience..only back pains all the way to HKG ! Luckily the crew and service were great and made the trip still a positive experience. I just found the breakfast option very poor..as far as I can remember it was just fruits and cereals. Some small hot dim sums were definitely well appreciated !

I like the amenity kits of CX..their are new Agnes B ones being introduced. Male ones are black while female ones are either red or black. I got Dermalogica products from HKG while Murad ones are in it on the flight to HKG. Really nice and you can use it instead of those unuseable ones which you just throw away.

    Hi Dylan,

Thanks for the support. But honestly, does an amenity kit really compensate for the lousy seat and dodgy breakfast. I’ll say no. Next time try the Qatar airways flight from Bahrain, via Doha, to Hong Kong. Good connection and great service.

    Hi CrazyC.,

Yes, you’re right it is not an excuse for a better service just to have good amenity kits. But you still can say that the service on CX is still good though. The crew actually made that horrible 7 hours trip comfortable in a way. They should really reconsider on offering better breakfast options in such flights.

I know QR. I tried both F and C class. While the service and food in both classes are great, superior lounges in Doha and really the money worth..I am not that a huge fan of their F seat. I do believe that the full flat C seating in their B777 aircrafts are great and really do forget that they have a F product.
But QR should also consider to refurbish those A330s with a full flat C seatings on their Europe segments !

And I recommend you to try Oman Air as well. For me one of the best C product on the market.. with a full flat seat ,great food, very attentive service and feeling more in F class rather than C.

I flew twice this year CX SFO-HKG-BKK return BKK-HKG-JFK in First Class, very nice product but the price tag is huge. Even the CX long haul 777 and 747 Business Class seats are so narrow that you can not turn over. I am now flying the SQ flight LAX SIN all business class plane with the 777-200 connection to BKK, SQ Business Class is better then the CX hands down ! CX First is nice, but at double the price of SIN Business. CX you lost me as a customer, Get your Business Class together before you really loose. By the way. the 747 First Class from SFO to HKG was empty I had F Class all to myself, I used frequent flyer miles. Nice to have 3 flight attendants pamper me all to myself. I even got a foot massage. That was a first !
