Be grateful for feedback .. looking to go to Muscat next Tuesday for 5 or 6 nights business class ... (or at a squeeze First Class).
Wondered if anyone could kindly advise on the Oman Air product, or whether Qatar or Etihad were much better, even though a change of aircraft would be needed.
Equally whether any feedback on the Shangri La or Al Bustan hotels. I did stay at the Al Bustan some 9 years ago.
All help much appreciated.

best to go Thai via bangkok, more money but better seat!

@kevin0820
Don't quite get that ... 11 hours to BKK, and then circa 4 hours back and 2 or 3 hours to connect.
As opposed to a flat seat on Oman Air in 8 hours max ...

Oman Air's Business Class Product is a fully flat bed and only 4 abreast. Their First Class offers even more (though apart from exclusivity, I cannot imagine much more being offered in terms of comfort). Their Business Class product would rival the First Class product of many other airlines (including Qatar, Emirates and Etihad). Also, I think Oman Air offer a complimentary chauffer drive service at both ends. Connecting flights from Qatar not very frequent and Abu Dhabi I would assume the same. More frequent connections from Dubai but many are actually operated by Oman Air (codeshare with Emirates). BA also fly to Muscat (thought not non stop as far as I am aware).
On hotels, I have stayed at the Shangri-La twice. Wonderful resort and great facilities. I have never stayed at the Al Bustan (which I think has been recently renovated and is operated by Intercontinental).
Enjoy your trip...

@RBrown9
Thanks for your advice.
I will stick with Oman AIr. I like the non stop service and return flight is daytime (my preference).
At Shangri La .. which of the 3 hotels would you suggest .. I am travelling alone. The family Waha should not be too busy .. the Al Husn (6 star) may be lacking in atmosphere ... cheers

Oman Air is making big strides in the region, so it would get my vote, and has great service on its flights.
As for hotels, the Al-Bustan gets my vote, its a little bit closer to Muttrah if you want to get into "town", and the gardens, pool and beach beat the Shangri-la. I have stayed at both, and am a frequent visitor to Oman.

I went with my wife back in October last year - flew BA in F which stops is AUH.
Stayed at the Chedi which I am thoroughly recommend!! Excellent location and the food was fantastic.
I flew with BA in First which was excellent and has good daytime flight times on outward journey. Stayed at the AL Husn part of the Shangri La where the rooms were extremely well appointed though beware that the Al Husn doesn't have a bar other than the Cigar Room- we went to the neighbouring Al Bandar for a drink in the evening.
