Best Burger in the World

A quiet Sunday watching India v England ODI with England not doing that well got me thinking.

Where can you find the best burger in the world?

I'm sure like me many forum posters enjoy a good burger from time to time and how disappointed we are when a restaurant boasts the best and it turns out to be a very sad affair!

At the moment my vote goes to Hudsons in Cape Town. Cooked to perfection, good juicy meat and great fries.

Any other votes out there?

in the "quick service" world, Five Guys and In and Out are the two chains that regularly delight.
A guy with three Michelin stars made me a burger once, using hand chopped skirt and chuck, a bit of salt and pepper, homemade mayonnaise to round off the mustard, a tomato he had grown, and a sourdough bun he had baked himself.

It was quite good. He openly agreed the ketchup was not worth making at home, it had to be made by Heinz.

This is a naughty thread Lugano.

Fortunately am around the Strand and Covent Garden relatively infrequently nowadays else personal weight management would require even greater self control as I cannot resist the Iberico Pork and Foie Gras Burger from the Opera Tavern. Garlic aioli with a jalapeno on the side.
...now back to the treadmill.

Although I have not had one for many years, there is a small burger chain called Uncle Sams based in Brighton with one in Portsmouth. They made the best burgers.

Best hotel burger I have ever had was at the Kirkwall Hotel, Kirkwall, Orkney. Which was made with prime Orkney beef and haggis. Yum yum

Gourmet Burger Kitchen is pretty good (albeit a bit ubiquitous) - their Pesterella with Mozzarella, pesto, lettuce and relish is fantastic.

No competition - has to be the BK Whopper! With added bacon and cheese.

Smashburger: I believe a good as Five Guys:

And if you ever make it down here to San Antonio, Texas, you have to try out Chunky's Burgers:

If you're cruising the world looking for the best burger, New Dog in Sao Paulo is absolutely fantastic!

BABenji - 23/10/2011 15:59 GMT

Agree with esselle on In and Out burger....they are bloody good.

That or anything at Five Napkin Burger:

Or for those looking a little closer to home:

...add a little stilton and bacon to top it off nicely.

In 'n' Out all the way, best quick service burger (West coast of America only). Also the Burger shack in Le Parker Meridien, New York. GBK is average; in the UK go to BYRON burger, awesome.

Agree with DoorstoManual about Byron, small chain from the guys who brought us some of the pizza staples, and whose uncles actually brought us Golden Egg

GBK has gone from good to no better than average; even my kids turn their noses up these days..............

DoorsToManual - 23/10/2011 17:57 GMT

Esselle...your children have class!

Thanks.....sadly ever increasing tastes also! Three girls, but they all love Wagamamma.

Hi BABenji

Vineware menu sounds good, but why do people always spell things wrong on their menus? Risollee has two e's, not one. Sorry to sound a bit like VK, but the little bits do matter..........

The best burger i have had to date has to be from Buds Broiler in New Orleans

http://www.budsbroiler.com/

In Canada i say Harvey's are good.

The one place i really want to try is the Heart Attack Grill... this place is for real.

Otherwise you can never go wrong with a BK Whopper!!
