Half a year. Well, almost half a year and a dozen phones and a telefax has it taken me to get the tier points and Avios we were entitled to (5 people) after upgrading to First at the gate in Shanghai in September.
Very disappointing, but I will give that to BA, that in this period there has been this transition to Avios with whatever consequences this has involved.
Still, there is a question left. When I use the Avios calculator in EC to see how much I would make of a trip in First from Shanghai to London, it says 210 / 17157.
We got the Avios right, but for the tier points we have received 180. Which is right?
Perhaps there were a change between September and now?
I don't mind myself as my membership was just renewed so the 30 from or to would make no difference, but for others in the party, they are 20 pts from upping a level, and they would certainly benefit from 210 rather than 180.
With the fresh history of numerous calls and being on hold, I kind of hesitate to give BAEC another call, so if anyone here in the forum would know? :-)

Others may have the specifics, but from memory, the Tier Point structure was altered in November when BA Miles became Avios .... so yes, 180 is the correct level for a pre-change Long Haul First flight.

180 is the correct amount due on the date you travelled.
While BA should have sorted its systems out in advance of delivering check-in/gate paid upgrade functionality, I would rather that the functionality was prioritised, which seems to have been the case.
Did you try using the online form for claiming TPs/Avios? Because all the info can be presented to BA in a consistent format, it is a much more efficient way of making a claim.
Mine (paid check-in upgrade) was dealt with within 5 days and I didn't have to call up.
It's ALWAYS worth doing this first, waiting 10-14 days and then calling. With all the data already visible in the system, it's then easier for the escalation to happen.
I do wish they'd add a simple tick box to this form, asking whether the underlying fare was upgraded with Avios of cash, as this is often a reason for Avios/TPs not posting and is not always picked up by those reviewing claims, expecially where a proportion of miles have already posted.
Here is the form, you'll need to be logged in:

Thank you guys. I expected it was a change that had found place. Good to have it confirmed though.
I agree with you VintageKrug, it is better they focus on functionality. But still I think almost half a year is a bit too much. Add to this, that after my third contact with them, they managed to remove my flight from Shanghai to London entirely. Fortunately, I got it back.
I tried all channels to get it fixed. I don't really have access to telefax by default, so that I used this illustrates my despair :-).
My first contact was three weeks after we returned, so I'd say I was doing everything by the book.
Anyways, I got the pts now, so I am happy :-).
