roddersParticipantThought I would share this recent OneWorld RTW journey, in Business.
LHR/BOS on BA 777
JFK/SFO on American A321T their new transcontinental aircraft
SFO/SIN via HKG on CX 777 and A330
(side trip from SIN/BWN/SIN on Royal Brunei, A320 and B787)
SIN/KWI via DOH on QR enjoyed the A350 on the SIN/DOH leg
KWI/LHR on BA 747I thought that the BA service had improved, and the mixed fleet crew on the return from Kuwait were very engaging.
The AA A321 service was excellent, with 2×2 seating in business, with a friendly service from the crew.
The long haul Cathay transpacific service was ok, I do think they have taken their eye of the ball re service.
The RB 787 was good, managing to get to FL 43000 for the short hop to Singapore.
Delighted to try QR’s A350, which I thought was more spacious than the 787, maybe the lack of centre overhead bins contributed to this, I will file a separate note on this trip.
The BA 747 on the last leg was half empty so a pleasant upper deck experience with the friendly crew.
Overall a good trip, and going westward certainly helped overcome the jet lag.11 Sep 2015

IanFromHKGParticipantI’ve done lots, LP, always on oneworld, largely because a RTW business class fare has not been much more than a return business class fare to the US east coast from here – so I ponied up the difference myself on business trips in order to visit family in the UK. And sometimes to top up my mileage :-). Unfortunately, being so often business-related, the trips can come quite close together – and it can be very tiring!! Nonetheless, an interesting way to compare products in quick succession.

ontherunhomeParticipantneeded 650 to retain BA gold, so have booked the following for a trip to SFO
30,748 Avios and 605 tier points.
LHR DUB, BA
DUB PHL US
PHL SFO US
SFO JFK AA
JFK Dub AA
DUB LHR BATotal cost £2300, which was a lot less than BA LHR -SFO direct. Took advantage of 140 tier points for east to west trip in USA.
Have flown US on A330 and was happy with seat, food and service, not sure what 1st class like on US . Interested if i get a 312T from SFO to JFK. The worst sector will be JFK to Dub on AA 757, anyone done this?

EruditeSheepParticipantLike IanFromHKG and others, I realised many years ago that RTW ticketing can be very cost effective in comparison with the cost of flexible transatlantic return tickets in business class, although I must admit the last one I flew was in 2001. On this occasion, I exploited a Star Alliance itinerary, with the following sectors:
LHR – SFO UA
SFO – LAX UA
LAX – MEL UA
MEL – SIN SQ
SIN – LHR SQAll in 10 days.

I flew DUB – JFK – DUB on an AA 757 last year. Angled lie flat in business, although service, meals and IFE were quite acceptable. Clearing US immigration in DUB was a major benefit.

nevereconomyParticipantI used to do 3 or more of these per year. Always booked First and used the max 16 segments. With careful planning could renew Gold with just one trip.
