I first heard a rumour about this yesterday, and it has now been confirmed in an article in the Irish Independent.

Aer Lingus CEO confirmed “very concrete plans” for new services for summer 2015. The rumour I heard, and it is also mentioned in the article, is that one such service will be to Texas, and another to a new East Coast route.

In a separate article in the Independent, Aer Lingus confirmed that a 3rd of all its USA bound passengers are connecting from UK and other Airports, and Dub is now the 7th biggest European Hub for US bound passengers.

Sounds interesting. Austin TX anyone?! I also suspect services to Miami and who knows, to Seattle also?

I’m hearing of yet another route, DUB to Halifax, Nova Scotia.

Seems like a weird one, but that is what I’m hearing.

MIA would be great (and some rumours suggest that it IS the new East coast route), as it opens up a lot of cheap redemption options from Ireland to Carribean/Mexico, given that MIA is an AA hub.

Add in the great convenience of pre-clearing immigration at Dub, instead of the hell that MIA can be at times, and it would look really attractive

We should know in some weeks, routes need to be announced shortly..

I do hope they do start an Austin service! It would be perfect for redemption opportunities plus connections from Bristol.

If Aer Lingus can make a good job of linking together UK regional airports with pre-clearance at a Dublin hub and some decent schedules into US they could be on to a winner.
