Hi,
I have just looked at this article:
http://atwonline.com/aircraft-engines-components/news/airbus-delivered-26-a380s-2011-1220
As well as this production list:
http://plane.spottingworld.com/A380_production_list
So I though I would inform you all of the breakdown for each airline's A380 deliveries:
-2 for Air France
-2 for China Southern
-11 for Emirates
-1 for Korean Air
-2 for Lufthansa
-5 for Malaysia Airlines
-5 for Singapore Airlines
-2 for Thai Airways
(1 for Prince Al Walid)
That makes 31, 1 above the target!

Why doest BA buy any and get rid of the old tatty jumbos must cost more to run to xx
ps whos prince al walid or is that an airline? x

Well. 1 poster says they are waiting for an improved MTOW. I suspect it also has to do wih when they were ordered and how significant the carrier is as a customer.
I am intrigued how BA will introduce them. Whether they will change their rostering approach so they can confirm 380 on certain routes or whether it will be the NF crapshoot. Given the capacity difference it is possible they could assign on load but the crew reqs and the logistic differences will probably mean certain flights will move to 380 guaranteed.
Then there is the uestion will they have all classes or remove first? The varying demand on routes does not have iniform class split.
I wonder if any posters who do not work for BA and have thing for Mrs May have any musings?

Two quick points:
- BA is indeed awaiting the improved MTOW - I've read elsewhere (I think airliners.net, but don't have a link handy) that they are to be the launch customer for this improved A380-800.
- The reason for the 31 scheduled to be delivered, is probably because 1 delivery (I think the VIP one, but it could be one of the Emirates deliveries) is to one of the later test models that is being refitted and converted for customer use - so it won't need to be built from scratch.

MTOW = Maximum Take Off Weight
BA have 12 firm orders for the A380 and options on a further 9. The first 380 entering service with BA will be in Q1 of 2013.
BA will put this aircraft on the Hong Kong, Jo'burg, L.A. and if the Indian government lifts its ban on foreign operated A380's, to Mumbai too.
BA have stated that the A380 will be a Four class aircraft, and will be crewed by Heathrow world wide fleet, not mixed fleet.

I was going to respond to this interesting topic, but the thought of Theresa May reclining in First has got me too stimulated.

It is great that the A380 will be a flagship plane for BA, without mixed fleet. But, does t5 accommodate the aircraft?
Also, I look forward to the day in a few years time when BA's 19 A380s and VA's 12 (including all options, we all know how good the plane is) can be spied at LHR making it perhaps the second biggest A380 hub after DXB. That will especially be the case when you factor in all the airlines that will operate it to LHR as well- Korean, Thai, Malaysian, China Southern, Singapore, Qantas, Emirates, Qatar, Etihad, Asiana, perhaps even Air France/Lufthansa will give it another go!
That makes about 30/40 A380s flying to/from Heathrow.
Hengli123, do not forget the mega fleet of A380s which will be operated by Ryanair from Stansted, all carrying 980 standing pax with one toilet (£2 for entry) on board - this will quickly outnumber anything planned for Heathrow.
Hi Tom,
there will be at least two toilets as the crew have refused to share with the passengers.
No need for a crew toilet, Jonathan - they will be far too busy trying to sell scratch cards to 980 passengers during a 60 minutes flight. I should have added that Ryanair have ordered the VTOL version of the A380 (vertical take off and landing) which is designed to land on the back lawn at Chequers if necessary.
Good point Tom, i did not think of that. I am assuming that the 980 pax will be on the lower deck to allow for more cargo on the upper deck?
LeTigre - 21/12/2011 11:39 GMT
Perhaps will all space they will save by removing the copilot will create an extra 10 seats and the top part of the cockpit can be a viewing gallery at only £50 for 1 minute of viewing.

seriously do ryanair have an order for any xx
BTBAsccm - 21/12/2011 12:20 GMT
TominScotland, as Ryanair carry little cargo, they may convert the cargo space on a A380 into seating. Ok, so you wont have a window, maybe that'll mean £1.00 off your ticket price...
LeTigre - 21/12/2011 12:29 GMT
At least people who sit in the cargo bay will have more legroom.
Perhaps they'll lock all the babies and children in a small shipping container to be dropped over the sea?
Hippocampus - 21/12/2011 13:06 GMT
I think the chances of Virgin Atlantic taking delivery of A380s are very remote.
VintageKrug - 21/12/2011 13:11 GMT
I would have hoped that people who think flying Ryanair is a viable option wouldn't be breeding, so no need to drop them over the sea.
Here's O'Leary seeing how he can carry a few extra pax!

If only he did sit there a little longer...all his hot air would turn to vapour.
