Virgin, BA, EVA Air, Air New Zealand, Qantas, bmi have all been mentioned here. Was not aware Scandinavian now offered this cabin longhaul, interesting.

I think Japan Airlines and Air France now offer this cabin as well. I suppose www.flyopenskies.com BizSeat also qualifies.

The American majors seem reluctant to jump on this bandwagon, and although United offers an Economy Plus service, it is really just economy seating more spaced out.

My first experience was a very comfortable "Mid Class" flight on Virgin Atlantic in 1992; they claim to be the first to have introduced such a class, but in fact BA used to have something branded with headrests emboldened with "Caribbean Service" which used the rear Business Class cabin cradle seats with regular economy food and service - that would probably have been late 80s.

Seemed it was offered as an incentive for tour operators and also to make use of the large business cabin on this mainly leisure route - have a feeling it would have been a DC10, so might have actually been BCal.

I have also flown the current bmi PE seats - albeit when they were in "the business". Very comfy and large, and handily they can be reclined further with a little deft jigging of the mechanism for those in the know; best not to try this though!

Haven't been on Virgin for a few years,but have a trip coming up next month and will potter back to check out their newly updated offering; excellent hard product by all accounts, but the usual Virgin hit and miss youthful crews and an almost certain lack of champagne towards the end of the flight. Do they actually expect us to drink water ???

BA was pioneering in introducing PE across its entire longhaul network, making it the most widely available premium economy product.

Personally, I found the seat rather hard on my one experience of flying WT+; benefits are certainly the 125% of miles flown on any WT+ fare and relatively high number of BA Tier Points (75 per transatlantic sector), but I do think other carriers have the PE edge nowadays, and with business class fares so low right now it would seem unnecessary to rough it when you could be lying fully flat.
