There should be better offers out there; but frankly I'd stick with the Piccadilly Line if you don't have huge amount of luggage.

Outside rush hour and the heat of the summer for many it really is just as quick as the HEx once you factor in waiting time and getting to Paddington.

Hi Muntaser,

the Piccadilly line is pretty good, but if you plan doing any travelling around London you might be better off buying a travelcard. That's valid on buses, underground, some trains and docklands light railway. Depending on your plans this might suit you. Alternatively you could try Heathrow Connect. It runs to Paddington, takes around half an hour and runs half hourly.

This looks like a 'misleading advert' worthy of some lowcost airlines ... a bogof offer is not the same as 50%-off unless it would be available to all customers. Is the 2-0r-more criterion enforced to exclude strangers from teaming up (perhaps holding hands?). Can an enterprising thinker buy 2 and keep one for later (like cucumbers). Bu-Tr needs to be careful about propagating illegal claims.

To beat the queues, bring £5 in coins and you can purchase a card from the rectangular blue machines on the wall in major underground stations. Then use cash or credit card at the ticket machines (different machines - these ones have screens) to top your card up.

You get to avoid the queues, and a single ticket for zone 1 is less than half price. If you travel more than 3 journeys, the card will charge you the lower daily travel card rate, so you save even more.

Any unused money when you complete your trip can be kept on the card, or if you hand it in, the cash goes to charity.

Oyster can also be used on the London buses.

Back to Heathrow Express (HEX). The network railcard is £25 per year and offers 33% off rail journeys in the South East including (HEX). Unfortunately there is a Mon to Fri restriction of min fare £13 and use only after 10:00.

It is possible to get around the min fare restriction by buying a return (£20 ish).

It is necessary to show railcard at HEX ticket office to obtain reduction which is a pain, however at Paddington, tickets with a railcard reduction can be bought from First Great Western ticket machines.
