Independent hotel collection Worldhotels has announced plans to launch a new loyalty programme later this year, but points from the group’s current Peakpoints scheme will not be carried through.

In an email to current members Worldhotels said a new “simpler, more transparent” programme would launch “towards the end of 2018” under the name The List.

The new scheme will offer benefits including room upgrades, late checkout and a “welcome ritual that truly speaks to the spirit of each of our independent hotels worldwide”.

But ahead of this the Peakpoints programme will be terminated, with members needing to use their points by July 15, when they will expire.

The group pointed to section 13.2 of its Peakpoints terms and conditions, which states that “Worldhotels reserves the right to terminate the Peakpoints Programme at any time, giving ninety (90) days prior notice to its Members”.

The group said that between July 16 and when the new scheme launches, it would offer current members interim benefits including rate discounts, complimentary breakfast and room upgrades, with details to be provided to members when their next account statement is sent out.

The Worldhotels Peakpoints programme launched in 2014, with members earning points which can be exchanged for vouchers against hotel stays.
