Seven hotly anticipated hotels in Asia opening soon

The Middle House

The fourth property in Swire Hotels’ The House Collection is opening in Shanghai this April.

The new hotel is located in the city’s commercial district as part of the HKRI Taikoo Hui mixed-use development, close to Nanjing Road West and about an hour’s drive from Pudong Airport and 30 minutes from Hongqiao Airport.

The Middle House will offer 111 rooms when it opens, as well as 102 serviced apartments as part of The Middle House Residences. The interiors of the hotel and apartments are designed by Milan-based Pierro Lissoni, with architecture by Lissoni Associati, and Wong and Ouyang. The overall theme is inspired by Shanghai’s culture of art and craftsmanship, with a particular focus on combining old and new.

Swire Hotels continues to collaborate with New York-based chef Gray Kunz with the opening of a branch of Café Gray Deluxe from The Upper House in Hong Kong. The restaurant will serve international cuisine and also features terraced areas for dining.

Six Senses Duxton and Six Senses Maxwell

Six Senses Hotels Resorts Spas will introduce its first city hotel in Singapore this spring. Split across two hotels – Six Senses Duxton and Six Senses Maxwell – Six Senses Singapore is located in Chinatown, about 30 minutes by car from Changi International Airport.

Six Senses Duxton will be the first of the two hotels to open in April. Guests can expect large golden fans and a distinctive black, gold and yellow colour scheme, layered with Asian screens and calligraphy wallpaper inspired by the personal collection of the hotel’s designer, Anoushka Hemper.

The 49-room property offers fine dining Chinese cuisine as well as a library-themed lobby bar serving signature house cocktails. A particularly unique feature is the ability to book an appointment with the in-house traditional Chinese doctor, who can provide readings, health recommendations and a medicinal herbal remedies.

Opening in July this year, meanwhile, is Six Senses Maxwell that notably will feature handmade mattresses by Naturalmat and organic bed linens in all 138 of the hotel’s rooms. A “colonial meets modern Europe”-style restaurant, Eat With Six Senses, will offer a healthy menu and fresh local and seasonal food and drink, while other refreshments can be had at the Champagne bar and lounge, whisky bar and club lounge. Other facilities will include the Six Senses Spa, an outdoor lap pool, and a boardroom.

The Bangkok EDITION

The Bangkok Edition

Set to open in the middle of 2018, The Bangkok Edition will be housed in the tallest building in Bangkok, MahaNakhon, located along Narathiwat Road close to North Sathorn Road junction. The building is about 45 minutes from Suvarnabhumi Airport by car.

The Bangkok Edition will feature 154 guestrooms when it opens its doors, along with more than 511 sqm of meeting space including a boardroom, main function room and an outdoor banquet terrace. Food and beverage options will include two signature restaurants, a lobby bar and a pool bar, while leisure facilities comprise a pool, fitness centre, and a spa with four treatment rooms.

Rosewood Hong Kong

Opening in September 2018, the luxury hotel will be Rosewood Hotels and Resorts’ first property in Hong Kong. Occupying 43 floors of a multi-use tower in the new Victoria Dockside arts and culture district in Tsim Sha Tsui, the hotel takes around 30 minutes to reach from Hong Kong International Airport by car.

The 413-room property will have eight restaurants and lounges when it opens, along with recreational facilities that will include the group’s new Asaya wellness spa, a fitness centre and a swimming pool. Business travellers also will be able to make use of the Manor Club executive lounge and residential-style meeting and function space, The Pavilion. The Rosewood Hong Kong will also offer 186 Rosewood Residences for guests seeking longer stays.

St. Regis Hong Kong Room

St. Regis Hotels & Resorts is finally bringing its brand to Hong Kong for the first time in early 2019.

Set to be located in the city’s bustling Wan Chai district surrounded by shopping and commercial buildings, the St Regis Hong Kong will also be within walking distance of the Hong Kong Convention and Exhibition Centre as well as Victoria Harbour.

The 25-storey hotel will offer 129 guest suites, many of which will feature views of Victoria Harbour and Kowloon Bay, and guests can also enjoy the brand’s signature butler service.

Also scheduled to open at the hotel are Chinese and French restaurants, a 320-seat banquet hall and a heated swimming pool. An open-air terrace also will be located next to the Lobby Lounge and a St. Regis Bar will serve the brand’s signature cocktail, the Bloody Mary.

The Langham, Bangkok at Chao Phraya River

The Langham, Bangkok at Chao Phraya River is expected to open in 2021, located beside Canapaya Plaza, which offers riverfront shopping, dining experiences and entertainment.

Each of the 207 rooms and 43 suites is prepared with The Langham signature Blissful bed along with separate bathrooms with rain showers and bathtubs in an urban resort style. Half of the deluxe rooms will have balconies with a 180-degree view of the Chao Phraya River, while the other half will have views of both the river and the city.

Particularly notable for event planners as well as delegates, the hotel will feature a 1,500 sqm ballroon that looks over the Chao Phraya River and has a private pier to accommodate water-based transportation.

Food and beverage options at the hotel will include the opening of its own iteration of T’ang Court, the three-Michelin-starred Cantonese fine dining restaurant in Hong Kong, as well as an all-day dining restaurant serving international cuisine and an alfresco dining option at the pool bar and grill restaurant.

Leisure facilities will include the hotel group’s signature Chuan Spa and a 50-metre Olympic-sized outdoor pool.

W Osaka

W Osaka

W Hotels is set to make its debut in Japan in 2021 with the opening of the W Osaka. The property will be located on Mido-Suji Boulevard, an area surrounded by boutiques and restaurants. It takes about an hour get from Kansai International Airport to the hotel by car.

W Osaka will offer 337 guestrooms in total, including 35 suites, two Wow Suites and one Ewow Suite. Multiple dining and drinking concepts will also be available at the hotel, including the hotel’s signature Woo Bar and another bar located on the Wet Deck (pool level).

Meanwhile, leisure facilities will include a fitness centre, Fit, and the Away Spa. For events, there will be a 400sqm Great Room and three meeting rooms.
