Five new and refurbished hotels in Kuala Lumpur

New World Petaling Jaya Hotel

New World Hotels & Resorts recently opened its first property in Malaysia. Located in the Petaling Jaya area, the New World Petaling Jaya Hotel is located about 50 minutes from Kuala Lumpur International Airport (KLIA) by car.

There are 300 guestrooms with sizes ranging from 36 sqm to 73 sqm, and all featuring Malaysian-themed artworks, bamboo flooring and marble bathrooms. Guests in Residence Club rooms and suites can access the Residence Club Living Room, which offers complimentary breakfast, all-day refreshments and a concierge service.

There is a wide range of F&B offerings: Pasar Baru serves Malay, Indian and Chinese dishes; The Lounge at the lobby offers cocktails, coffee and tea, along with savoury snacks and dessert; and the rooftop bar PJ’s Bar & Grill serves western and Asian grilled dishes, appetisers and cocktails.

The hotel has a 300 sqm rooftop infinity pool and a whirlpool, located on the 30th floor. Meanwhile the gym on the 29th floor is equipped with the treadmills, elliptical machines, stair climbers and free weights.

JW Marriott KL

JW Marriott Kuala Lumpur

Opened in 1997, the JW Marriott Kuala Lumpur has undergone a year-long renovation that culminated in its reopening in December last year.

The hotel’s 578 rooms and suites have been refreshed and the new design uses modern materials and polished chrome, matched by stylish and tech-friendly amenities. The bathroom includes a rainforest shower and a Japanese-inspired bathtub. Nine brand new Cabana Poolside rooms located on Level 6 also have been added for guests looking for a more leisure-focused stay.

From an events space perspective, the hotel has 20 meeting and function rooms, as well as a 300-seat Bayu Ballroom located by the pool that includes a built-in LED screen on the stage.

The Starhill Spa Village has also been rebranded and now contains a spa, 24-hour gym with Technogym equipment, steam room, sauna, whirlpool and a cool plunge pool.

MO KL Presidential Suite - Bathroom

Mandarin Oriental, Kuala Lumpur

The Mandarin Oriental, Kuala Lumpur recently unveiled its new 440 sqm Presidential Suite. The accommodation offers views of KLCC Park and the city’s iconic Petronas Twin Towers. The suite has three bedrooms, each featuring rich fabrics sourced from across the world, as well as walk-in wardrobes and designer bathrooms. Malaysian artworks and objets d’art further add to the suite’s high-end atmosphere.

The entry foyer leads to the suite’s office and leisure lounge, a good option for private business meetings. Once the meetings are finished, a mixologist can prepare cocktails and beverages at the bar, which has been handcrafted from Italian marble.

The living room is also complete with hand-loomed carpets and a handmade crystal chandelier hanging from the double-height ceiling. A 75-inch 4K Smart TV and Bang & Olufsen sound system are also included.

The suite has its own fitness and wellness zone including Technogym Personal cardio equipment and free weights, as well as a private spa salon with a Gharieni treatment bed for in-room treatments.

Banyan Tree Kuala Lumpur and Pavilion Kuala Lumpur, Pavilion Hotel by Banyan Tree

Banyan Tree Hotels & Resorts soon will be opening two new properties in the city.

The first is the Banyan Tree Kuala Lumpur, which will be opening in June this year. The hotel is situated in the city’s Golden Triangle, also known as the renowned commercial, shopping and entertainment hub of Malaysia, about an hour’s drive from the airport. It offers 55 rooms and suites, ranging from the 51 sqm Banyan Retreat King room to the 200 sqm Banyan Tree Suite. Facilities include three boardrooms, a gym, the Banyan Tree Spa, as well as a rooftop bar, Vertigo, offering 360-degree views of the city skyline.

Pavilion by Banyan Tree, meanwhile, will be opening in August in the Bukit Bintang area. The 325-room property has 1,300 sqm of events space including five meeting rooms each able to accommodate 40 guests, as well as a pillarless ballroom. There are three dining venues including an all-day dining restaurant, a Japanese restaurant and a whisky bar. The Sky Gym and a rooftop infinity pool are located at level 18.
