Asiana Airlines has begun placing its code on nine routes operated by Croatia Airlines, enabling travellers on the Korean carrier to book tickets on connecting flights to destinations in Croatia.

The agreement, which came into effect on December 27, sees Asiana Airlines place its OZ code on Croatia Airlines’ flights to destinations such as Zagreb, Dubrovnik and Split from Frankfurt, London and Paris. Asiana Airlines currently flies daily to London and Frankfurt (which Asiana operates with its Airbus A380 superjumbo aircraft) and five times weekly to Paris.

Asiana Airlines has been expanding its network in Europe in particular. In May, the carrier will begin flying directly to Venice, while in August is will launch services to Barcelona. The carrier also flies to Rome and Istanbul.

The codeshare with Croatia Airlines brings Asiana’s total number of codeshare agreements to 30 airlines covering 312 routes. Most recently, these included a new agreement with Hong Kong Airlines as well as an expanded arrangement with United.

Both Asiana Airlines and Croatia Airlines are members of Star Alliance.
