Minor Hotels will debut its AVANI Hotels & Resorts brand in Oman in 2020.

Minor Hotels has signed a management agreement with Safari International Group for the development of the 250-key AVANI Muscat Hotel.

The property will be located in Seeb, a 15 minute drive from Muscat International Airport. It will be connected via a sky bridge to the upcoming Al Araimi Boulevard Mall that will feature over 250 retail and dining outlets and a cinema complex. The mall will open in 2018.

In the first phase will see the opening of 160 guest-rooms and suites, an all-day dining restaurant, an AVANI Pantry and a rooftop lounge. Leisure facilities will include a swimming pool and health club. The property will also feature eight meeting rooms and a 1,000 sqm ballroom.

In the second phase that will commence after two years of the hotel opening, AVANI Muscat Hotel will add a total of 90 serviced apartments including studios, one- and two- and three-bedroom apartments.

“Bringing AVANI to Oman is a key component of our strategic expansion plans and we are delighted to be partnering with Safari International Group to develop this exciting new addition to Muscat’s hotel scene. Seeb is already a key residential area in Muscat, which as the city grows westwards will become a significant hub and we are confident AVANI will represent a great fit in this fast developing neighbourhood,” says Dillip Rajakarier, CEO of Minor Hotels.

Minor Hotels currently operates 13 properties in the Middle East across four of its brands – Anantara, AVANI, Tivoli and Oaks – and has a further strong pipeline in the region across these four brands. In 2018 AVANI will launch in North Africa with the opening of AVANI Les Berges du Lac Tunis Suites in the Tunisian capital, with properties scheduled to open in Mauritius and the Maldives in 2017.
