Japan Airlines (JAL) and Russian flag carrier Aeroflot have signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to boost flight services between Russia and Japan. The two airlines  will begin a codeshare cooperation including Aeroflot’s domestic flights, and JAL’s domestic and international flights. The first stage of this codeshare cooperation will commence after fiscal year 2018.

In addition, Japan Airlines and Aeroflot will collaborate for frequent flyer programmes and airport relocation in the future.

Currently, Japan Airlines operates four weekly flights to Moscow Domodedovo Airport from Tokyo Narita Airport; and Aeroflot operates daily non-stop flights from Moscow Sheremetyevo Airport to Tokyo Narita Airport. The travel demand between Japan and Russia increased, after visa norms were eased for the two countries in January this year .  jal.comaeroflot.com
